Cambridge Pulls Away From Red Raiders

Yesterday the Lady Indians of Cambridge visited the Red Raiders of Mechanicville for a Saturday matinee. Two of the premier squads from the Wasaren provided a great storyline, but similar to movies we’ve all seen, this one started fast, but it’s ending didn’t deliver.

Cambridge used a 25-7 advantage in the third period to break open a game that was close at the half, and post a 70-36 decision over  the Raiders. Continue reading

A handful of league squads took the floor in non-league runs on Tuesday night with the Bengals of Tamarac winning on both the girls and boys side.

Tamarac 54  Voorheesville 34

Leading Scorers:  Bengals – Emily Erickson 22        Blackbirds – Olivia Barringer 21

Key Stat:  A 22-8 final frame by Tamarac blew open a tight game, giving the Bengals the “W” in a contest where they connected on 19 of 29 free throws, while Voorheesville made just 1 of 7. Continue reading

Cambridge Notches Win Over Patriots

Leading Scorers:  Indians – Sophie Phillips 18       Lily Phillips 17            Patriots – Cat Worthington 10

Key Stats:  Cambridge jumped out to a 16-7 lead after one, converted on 10 of 14 from the stripe and closed things out with a 12-7 final frame to earn the victory over Mt. Anthony from Bennington.  The Patriots connected on eight triples in the game but only reached double digits in one period as the Indians defense continue to keep opponents off the scoreboard, allowing just 40 points per, over their last five outings.

 

Tamarac 45  Stillwater 38 (Friday night)

Leading Scorers:  Bengals – Emily Erickson 25            Warriors – Marley Mueller 15        Molly Sheehan 10

Key Stats:  The Warriors outscored Tamarac 26-18 over the middle two periods and took a 32-30 lead into the final eight minutes. But the Bengals used a 15-6 fourth quarter advantage to post the come-from-behind “W” and turn back Stillwater’s upset bid.

Key Stat:  Cambridge took control early running out to a 21-9 lead at the quarter, and extended their advantage to 40-16 at the break.  The Cambridge defense turned Hoosic Valley over time and again, which resulted in numerous transition buckets for the Indians. Continue reading

Key Stat:  The Bengals scored 20 or more in every quarter, and put 10 players in the scoring column in the one-sided affair.
