Another night with a full slate for the Wasaren boys, and with it, another Hoosick Falls victory to run their league winning streak to 44 straight and 74 of their last 76.

Leading Scorers:  Panthers – Jon Kempf 18       Tristan Williams 16       Max Kipp 12    Bengals – Jacob DeFreest 13

Key Stat:  The Falls trailed 41-39 entering the final period but clamped down defensively, holding the high-scoring Bengals to five points in the period, while putting 19 on the board themselves in securing the well-earned “W”. Continue reading

Key Stat:  The Witches kept Berlin off the board in the first period while scoring 26 themselves on their way to the easy “W”.

 

Mechanicville 63  Stillwater 42

Leading Scorers:  Red Raiders – Charli Goverski 15          AJ Joseph 15        Any DiSiena 13 Warriors – Kelly Moran 9

Key Stat:  The Raiders opened and closed well outscoring Stillwater 39-15 over the first and final periods.  Mechanicville bottomed seven triples in showing no letdown after their big win over Hoosic Valley last Friday night.

 

Tamarac 54  Hoosick Falls 53

Leading Scorers:  Bengals – Emily Erickson 18       Kylie Galipeau 15            Panthers – Logan Thayne 19        Lillian Hickey 11

Key Stat:  The Bengals led 25-18 at the break and held off the Falls over the final two quarters.  Tamarac knocked down 6 of 12 from behind the arc and converted on 12 of 18 from the foul line, while the Panthers were just 1 of 2 from the stripe.

Key Stat:  The Panthers outscored Mechanicville 35-19 over the middle two periods and survived a fourth quarter comeback by the Raiders to earn the “W”. Continue reading

Stillwater Boys Basketball Preview

stillwater warriorWhile Stillwater will have a new head coach this season, as Bruce Lilac takes over for Dave Cook, they’ll be plenty of familiar faces wearing the Warrior maroon and white.

Seven players return for Stillwater this year as Brian McNeil, James Galarneau, Mason Seymour, Grant Baker, Scott Travis, Cooper Monast and Matt Breslin all started or saw quality minutes for the Warriors just a season ago.

Lilac has liked what he’s seen from his group in the early going.  “The preseason has been great.  The kids are working hard to get better and tougher.  This group realizes they must come and work every night if they want to win in our league.” Continue reading
