Stillwater 46 Tamarac 6: Stillwater quarterback James Galarneau threw for three touchdowns and ran for another, leading the Warriors to the easy victory over the Bengals of Tamarac, Friday night in Stillwater.
Galarneau connected on scoring strikes of 40 and 20 yards to Luc Lescault, added a two yard toss to Ryan Greene, and scored on a 71 yard scoring run to round out his four touchdown night. Continue reading
On a perfect mid-September night for football, Hoosic Valley and Mechanicville ran onto Ted Weagle Memorial Field with both squads looking for their first win of the season. At night’s end it was Mechanicville that hung a number in the win column.
After a scoreless opening period the Red Raiders took control with three second quarter touchdowns and cruised to the 35-12 victory over the Indians from Schaghticoke.
After nearly 20 minutes of football with defense taking center stage, Mechanicville changed the defensive theme, scoring three times in the final five minutes of the half.
The first Raider points came on a 22 scoring run by sophomore back Russell DeLosSantos and with the Jake LaFountain’s point after Mechanicville led 7-0 at the 4:35 mark of the second. Continue reading

Boys Soccer
Mechanicville 2 Stillwater 1 OT: In the ninth annual Indian Cup game in Stillwater Thursday night, the two teams needed extra time to decide things, and that decision came when Andrew Kraszewski found the back of the net in the first overtime, giving Mechanicville the victory in the match between neighboring rivals.
The Raiders broke on top when Tyler Tesoriero found Kraszewski for a first half score, with his shot deflecting off a Stillwater defenseman and splitting the posts.
After the break the Warriors’ Grant Baker found the range off a Harry Rubenstein find, to tie the match with 25:00 remaining.
In the first overtime Kraszewski took a feed from Zac Rapaccioulo and finished the game-winner, giving the Raiders the exciting “W”.
With the win Mechanicville moves to 1-0, 2-1, while Stillwater goes to 0-1, 3-1 on the young season. Continue reading

Greenwich 4 Emma Willard 2 (Tuesday): The Witches trailed twice in the match but scored the final three goals to lead when in mattered, topping Emma Willard in Greenwich on Tuesday.
Trailing 1-0 midway through the first half the Witches Faith Ingber found the range to even the score at 1-1.
After the break Catherine Everett gave the Saints a 2-1 advantage with a scoring strike, but a pair of Cate Abate goals put the Witches in front, and Tess Merrill added the final tally to secure the non league “W”.
Hoosick Falls 2 Galway 0: The Panthers scored two first half goals on strikes from Ally Hoag and Sophie Estes, and keeper Logan Thayne and the Panther “D” posted the shutout in the non league victory.
Golf
Greenwich 3 Spa Catholic 2: Jake Owens carded a 41 to lead the field in the Witches narrow victory over the Saints in action at Saratoga State Park on Wednesday.
Grant Peck and Patrick McFee notched wins in flights four and five for Greenwich.
The Saints’ Will Fizer and Dylan Mulholland won their matchups, to earn points in flights two and three for Spa Catholic.
With the win Greenwich improves to 5-2 on the year while the Saints with the loss slip to 5-3.

Greenwich 5 Cambridge 0: In action at the Battenkill Country Club, Jake Owens fired a round of 36 to lead the Witches in the sweep of Cambridge on Tuesday.
Tyler Ziehm, Bradley Brophy, Grant Peck and Darren Pemrick all earned individual wins on the day as Greenwich improves to 4-2 on the season with the victory.
Spa Catholic 5 Waterford 0: Jack Constantino carded the low round of 42 and combined with his Saints teammates in shutout of Waterford.
Will Fizer, Dylan Mulholland, Roman Loftus-Graney and Patrick Penna all picked up points for the Saints in flights two thru five, as Spa Catholic moves to 5-2 on the year with the win.
Hoosick Falls 4 Tamarac 1: Ryan Bloomer, Mat Smith, Alison Hathaway and Brady Hathaway all posted individual wins for the Panthers in action at the Hoosick Falls Country Club on Tuesday.

Panthers, Miles Smith, Alison Hathaway and Brady Hathaway all stepped into the winner’s circle with wins in flights three, four and five.

Waterford 8 Heatly 0: Cassidy McClement’s hat trick led the Fordians to the easy “W” over Heatly on Tuesday.
Sophia Belonga and Addy Galuski with two goals each and Natalie Rich with a single scoring strike rounded out the Waterford onslaught.
Fordian keeper Sierra Atwood (3 saves), combined with the Waterford “D” for the shutout.
Congratulations to Greenwich soccer player Charlie Gartner on being named Wasaren Sportsnet Player of the Week.
On 8/30 Gartner connected on three scoring strikes in leading the Witches to a 4-1 victory over Glens Falls. In a 4-3 win over Doane Staurt on Thursday he added a single goal and did the same on Saturday in the Witches 3-1 defeat of Mayfield.
Finally in action yesterday, the Greenwich junior found the range for the matches only score in the Witches 1-0 “W” over Galway.

Mechanicville 3 Schenectady 2 OT: In the first overtime period Jake LaFountain played a free kick into the box and Andrew Krazsewski redirected a rebound into the back of the net giving the Red Raiders the well earned victory over the Patriots.
Tyler Tesorieio with a first half goal and Kevin Charette connecting on a second half scoring strike rounded out the Mechanicville offense in the nonleague win.
Greenwich 1 Galway 0: A Charlie Gartner first half strike off a Connor Smith find, was all the offense the Witches needed in getting past Galway Monday afternoon in Greenwich.
Witches keeper Andres Gonzalez (7 saves), combined with the Greenwich defense to post the shutout, as the Witches with the win move to 4-0 on the year.
Saratoga Catholic 5 North Warren 0: Dante Marin’s hat trick led the Saints to the easy non-league victory over North Warren.
Luke Apy and Nate Marin also found the range for Spa Catholic and Andrew MacPherson with nine saves combined with the Saints “D” for the shutout.
Stillwater 8 Hartford 0: The Warriors scored six goals after the break in posting the easy “W” over the Tanagers on Monday.
Grant Baker rang the bell five times for Stillwater with Isaac Cutler, Harry Rubenstein and Gavin Baker all adding singled scoring strikes.
Tim Buchal (5 saves), and the Stillwater defense combined for the shutout as the Warriors move to 3-0 on the season with the victory.
Hoosic Valley 7 Hoosick Falls 2: The Valley took control with a 4-1 lead at the break and coasted to the comfortable win over the Falls.
Josh Ackerley and Jake Cavert with two goals each led the Indians and Derek Howard, John Wiley and Andrew Wood also found the range for scores.
Stillwater 2 Buffalo Nichols 2: In the Hall of Fame Tournament at Stillwater the hosts and their opponents from Buffalo ended the match deadlocked at 2-2.
Trailing 1-0 at the break Brooke Pickett’s first goal, off a Keelyn Peacock feed, knotted the game at 1-1 at the 49:06 mark. Her second goal of the match in the 77th minute tied things at 2-2 as the Warriors go to 4-0-1 on the year.
Allegany Limestone 6 Greenwich 1: In the Hall Of Fame Tournament in Niskyuna Allegany-Limestone took control with four first half scoring strikes in the comfortable win over the Witches.
Lauren Marci tallied for Greenwich early in the first half to tie things at 1-1 but Allegany scored the final five goals on the day to post the victory.
Football
Stillwater 35 Voorheesville 0: The Warriors used a 28 point third period to break the game open, on their way to the convincing road win over the Blackbirds.
Stillwater held a 7-0 halftime lead, their points coming in the second period on a Hayden Brown 39-yard interception return for a touchdown.
The Warriors offense went to work after the break scoring four times in the third period. James Galarneau sandwiched touchdown runs of 65 and 10 yards, around a pair of Mason Seymour scoring totes giving the Warriors complete control. Both Seymour and Galarneau ran for over 100 yards on the afternoon.
The Stillwater defense played well throughout with three takeaways highlighting the Warriors’ shutdown of the Voorheesville attack..
