Key Stat:  Stillwater built a double-digit cushion with an 18-6 first period.

Take Away:  The Warriors won each of the first three quarters and put three players in doubles to secure the home win over the Fordians.

 

Emma Willard 46   Hoosic Valley 29

Leading Scorers:  Jespers – Audrey Shields 29  5 3’s            Valley – Kaylee Smith 11

Key Stat:  Emma Willard won every quarter including a 16-4 first.

Take Away:  The Jespers ride a big night from Shields to a comfortable win in Schaghticoke.

 

Mechanicville 50   Cambridge 46

Leading Scorers:  Red Raiders – Allie Kenyon 17     S. Tamasi 11       Cambridge – Schuylar Nolan 18     Samanth Crandall 14

Key Stat:  The Raiders built a 32-19 halftime advantage.

Take Away:  In a tale of two halves the Raiders took a double-digit lead into the break but Cambridge erased the deficit and took a four-point lead late in the final frame, before the visitors, fueled by six points from Kenyon, responded for the comeback “W”.   

 

Tamarac 81   Saratoga Catholic 14

Leading Scorers:  Bengals – Kayla Beaudoin 19  5 3’s      Emily Film 17  3 3’s          Saints – Addison Whitbeck 5

Key Stat:  The Bengals held Spa Catholic to single numbers in every quarter.

Take Away:  Tamarac ended things early with a 27-4 first period where they bottomed five of their 10 made triples on the night and cruised from there to the road win over the Saints.

 

Greenwich 91   Berlin/New Lebanon 16

Leading Scorers:  Witches – Norah Niesz 27 3 3’s      Brooke Kuzmich 24 3 3’s    Grace Autiello 14 3 3’s   Reegan Mullen 13         Mountaineers:  Riley Robertson 6 – 

Key Stat:  Greenwich led 32-3 after the first eight minutes.

Take Away:  The Witches put four players in doubles, connect nine times from deep and coast to the road victory over the Mountaineers.  

Bengals, Raiders, Witches Post Dominant W’s

Tamarac

Tamarac 76   Saratoga Catholic 46

Leading Scorers:  Bengals – Joey Poulin 34, 8 3’s             Saints – Justin Duscher 18     Aiden Dunn 11

Key Stat:  The Bengals jumped out to a 22-4 lead after the first eight minutes and were never challenged.

Take Away: Poulin nets 34 and ties the school record for made threes with eight, while playing just 22 minutes in the contest.  Tamarac bottoms 11 triples on the night, puts nine players in the scoring column and moves to 3-0 on the year with the home victory.  

 

Mechanicville 84   Cambridge 41

Leading Scorers:  Red Raiders – Colin Richardson 12     Brayden Bergeron-Waite 12      Joey Devito 10           Cambridge – Isaac Toleman 21  4 3’s

Key Stat:  Mechanicville scored 50 points after the break.

Take Away:  The Raiders showed their offensive prowess building a comfortable 34-17 by halftime and hanging fifty, second half points on the board in cruising to the home “W”.  Twelve players scored for Mechanicville who evened their mark at 1-1 and will play host to the Panthers of Hoosick Falls on Friday.

Key Stat:  The Witches doubled up the Mountaineers over the middle two frames outscoring their hosts 41-21.

Take Away:  Greenwich won each of the first three periods in pulling away for the road victory.  The Witches impressively put five players in doubles and with the win move to 3-0 on the young season.  

Tamarac Rolls Over Gloversville

Leading Scorers:  Bengals – Joey Poulin 26, 11 rebounds 7 assists           Mikey D’Agostino 15      Dom Price 11         Dragons – Mariano DiCaterino 13

Key Stat:  Tamarac outscored the Dragons 37-18 over the middle two frames.

Take Away:  Tamarac moves up in class taking on the class A Gloversville squad and doesn’t miss a beat putting three players in doubles, drilling six triples and converting on 11 of 16 from the stripe in their comfortable “W” over the Dragons at Fulton Montgomery Community College on Sunday.  With the win Tamarac moves to 2-0 on the young season and next up is a Tuesday night run, at home, with the Saints of Saratoga Catholic.  

Roundball Round-Up

Hoosick Falls 54   Queensbury 51

Leading Scorers:  Panthers – Jake Sparks 21 (12 rebounds)     Aiden Fleming 13        Spartans – Trevon Bailey 15     Ryan Havern 13       Chase Baker 11

Key Stat:  Trailing 19-13 after the first, Hoosick Falls won each of the remaining periods.  

Take Away:  The Falls fell behind early but battled back to tie things heading into the final frame where the Panthers secured the non-league win.  Fleming poured in 11 of his 13 points in the first eight minutes keeping the Falls within striking distance, while Sparks dropped 15 of his game-high 21 points after the break to help close out the “W”.  

 

Girls

Cambridge 40   Cooperstown 33   Friday

Leading Scorers:  Cambridge – Schuylar Nolan 16     Samantha Crandall 13            Cooperstown – Dani Seamon 14

Key Stat:  Cambridge held an 8-0 advantage in made threes.

Take Away: Trailing 23-21 heading to the fourth Cambridge outscored Cooperstown 19-10 to post the win and even their mark at 1-1 on the year.

Key Stat:  Greenwich ran out to a 33-8 halftime lead.

Take Away:  The Witches put three players in doubles and cruised to the easy victory in the opening round of the Dick Alwine Tip-off Tournament on Friday.

Boys

Key Stat:  The Witches held a 12-3 advantage in made threes.  

Take Away:  The Greenwich attack was firing on all cylinders scoring 45 first half points taking a 29-point cushion into the break and coasted from there to the non-league win over the Tanagers. 

 

Hoosick Falls 61   St. Lawrence 36

Leading Scorers:  Panthers – Jake Sparks 25, 11 rebounds         St. Lawrence – Aiden Beach 22

Key Stat:  The Falls jumped out to a 22-7 lead after the first eight minutes.

Take Away:  Hoosick Falls took control with a big first period, that saw Sparks connect on 17 of his game-high 25 points and rolled to the home “W” over St. Lawrence.

Leading Scorers:  Eagles – Jared Pratt 16            Cambridge – Noah Burke 10

 

Bethlehem 61   Mechanicville 43

Leading Scorers:  Eagles – Logan Yohe 22     Kiernan Barnes 12             Red Raiders – Colin Richardson 29

Key Stat:  Bethlehem held an 11 -3 advantage in makes from beyond the arc. 

Take Away:  The Raiders trailed 32-18 at the half but used a 17-8 third frame to pull within five heading to the fourth, where Bethlehem closed out the victory.   Richardson led all scorers with 29 points on a night where Mechanicville stepped up in class taking on the AA Eagles which will pay dividends down the road for the Raiders

Key Stat:  Duanesburg connected on 15 of 20 free throws, while Mechanicville converted 6 of 12 from the stripe.

Take Away:  Duanesburg built an 18-4 cushion in the first period and rode that cushion to the home “W”. Only four Eagle players scored in the game, but all four managed to hit double figures.  

Tamarac Dominant in Season-Opener

Leading Scorers:  Bengals – Mike D’Agostino 31 (8 3’s)      Joey Poulin 19 /17 rebounds     Frankie DePalma 11         Fordians – C. Kennedy 13

Key Stat:  Tamarac bottomed 11 triples including an 8 of 9 effort from D’Agostino who set the school record for made threes in a game.  

Take Away:  The Bengals open the season with a no-doubt “W” running out to a 42-14 halftime advantage and after the break hung 28 on the board in the third frame.  Nine Bengals scored including three in doubles led by the flame-throwing D’Agostino with 31.

Key Stat:  Greenwich outscored the eagles 20-9 in the third frame.

Take Away:  The Witches trailed 28-21 at the break but used a big second half to secure the non-league win, in the season-opener for both squads.
