Greenwich 3 Mechanicville 3: The two Wasaren squads battled to a 3-3 deadlock in Mechanicville on Monday.
Faith Ingber with a pair of goals and Tess Merrill with a single strike led the Witches attack.
Ryleigh Hopeck paced the Raiders with two goals, and Marissa Krosky added a goal as well while Patty Snyder assisted on two of the Mechanicville scores.
Hoosic Valley 0 Hoosick Falls 0: Defense was the theme as both team’s keepers and defensive players took center stage in the scoreless match played in Hoosick Falls on Monday.
Valley keeper Kate Chamberlain saved 12 shots for the Indians while Panther goal tender Olivia Estes turned back two shots on the afternoon.
Mechanicville 12 Granville 8: Joe Sanchez bulled in from the two-yard line with :45 remaining, propelling Mechanicville past the Golden Horde on Saturday in Granville.
Sanchez staked the Raiders to a 6-0 lead at the 4:21 mark in the first on a one-yard touchdown run. But on the final play of the first frame Granville’s Logan Beebe ran it in from six yards out and Josh Oakman added the two-point conversion to give the home squad an 8-6 advantage which held up until Sanchez’s late game heroics.
With the win the Red Raiders even their season mark at 1-1.
Greenwich 36 Stillwater 7: Max Maguire and Matt Conlin both ran for a pair of touchdowns to lead Greenwich to the road win over the Warriors of Stillwater.
A two-yard scoring run by CJ McNeil gave Stillwater a 7-6 edge early in the second period, but on the final play of the first half a two-yard quarterback sneak by Jesse Kuzmich along with the two-point conversion gave the lead back to the Witches at 14-7.
Conlin’s second running touchdown came with 1:57 left in the third extended the Witches lead to 22-7 and Maquire added TD runs of 24 and 5 yards in the final quarter to round out the scoring for Greenwich.
With the win the Witches move to 2-0 on the season.
Hoosick Falls/Tamarac 34 Watervliet 0: Greg Mays threw for 114 yards and three scores to lead HF/Tam to the shutout “W” over the Cannoneers of Watervliet.
Mays connected with Tucker Thayne on a 19-yard scoring strike in the second frame, and added a pair of touchdown tosses in the third, finding James Blake from 38 yards out and Tom Chalewa on a 28 yard hookup.
Hoosick Falls/Tamarac held a 321-69 advantage in total yards and with the victory improve to 2-0 on the year.
The high school soccer season is in it’s early stages with most Wasaren schools having played just a couple of times, and while the lion’s share of the schedule remains, no team has started faster than the boys from Mechanicville.
Mechanicville 10 Hoosic Valley 0: Andrew Kraszewski found the back of the net four times in the one-sided decision over Hoosic Valley in Schaghticoke on Friday.
Six Raiders scored goals in the match, while Mechanicville keeper Glenn Prarie saved six shots, combining with the Raiders defense to post the shutout.
Mechanicville moves to 3-0 on the season and has opened the year in dominant fashion.
The Raiders kicked things off with a 12-0 win over Berlin/New Lebanon that saw Kraszewski, Colin McNutt and Wyqie Agunda all finish with hat tricks.
They doubled down in their next outing with a 12-0 verdict against Hoosick Falls, Kraszewski and McNutt again striking for three goals each while Agunda added a pair.
Next up for the Raiders is an away match on Tuesday with Saratoga Catholic, while Hoosic Valley (0-2), will travel to Tamarac to take on the Bengals.
Greenwich 5 Saratoga Catholic 0: Five different Witches connected on goals and Greenwich keeper Owen Keech needed just two saves to notch the shutout over the Saints of Saratoga Catholic on Friday.
The Witches improve to 2-0-1 on the year, after opening the season, tying Hoosick Falls 2-2 and following with a 3-0 “W” over Hoosic Valley.
Both squads next outing will be on Tuesday when Greenwich will face Waterford at Afrim’s Sports Complex and Saratoga Catholic (0-2), will host Mechanicville.
Tamarac 2 Hoosick Falls 0: Alex Bassey and Nevin Wilkie with a goal each led the way for the Bengals who post their second win of the year in as many outings.
Tamarac keeper Burdick turned back seven Fordian shots in notching the shutout.
Tamarac will host Hoosic Valley on Tuesday, while Hoosick Falls (0-2-1), will also play on Tuesday, entertaining the Indians of Cambridge.
Greenwich quarterback Jesse Kuzmich scored on four touchdown runs and threw for another, leading the Witches to the shutout victory over Voorheesville in Stillwater on Sunday.
Kuzmich staked the Witches to a 20-0 halftime advantage with a rushing touchdown in the first period and a pair of scoring runs in the second frame. After a scoreless third quarter Kuzmich scored on a 3-yard touchdown tote at the 10:31 mark of the fourth and closed out the game with a 46-yard TD pass to Alex Curtis.
Max Maguire led the Greenwich ground attack gaining 148 yards on 14 carries while Kuzmich ran for 52 yards on 14 carries and completed 11 of 15 passes for 147 yards.
Greg Mays threw for 102 yards and a pair of scores to lead Hoosick Falls/Tamarac past the Riders of Ichabod Crane in Watervliet on Saturday.
Josh Colegrove added scoring runs of five and 26 yards for HF/T who led 26-0 at the half.
Schuylerville 38 Mechanicville 0
Schuylerville running back Sam McGarrahan rushed for 135 and two touchdowns in the Black Horses shutout victory over the Red Raiders in Mechanicville on Saturday.
McGarrahan scored on runs of six and nine yards, while Schuylerville quarterback Owen Sherman threw for a score and ran for another in the season-opening win. The Schuylerville defense was stout in week one, holding Mechanicville to just 38 total yards in the game.
Lake George/Hadley Luzerne 12 Stillwater 8
Cole Clark ran for 117 yards and threw for 124 more in leading the War Eagles to the narrow victory over Stillwater on Saturday.
Clark’s 35-yard scoring romp with 5:00 remaining in the third period proved to the be difference as both squads defensive units pitched shutouts the rest of the way.
Stillwater took an 8-6 lead in the second frame on an Isaac Cutler 32-yard touchdown run at the 6:01 mark, with Tyler Paffen hitting C.J. McNeil for the two-point conversion.
Ravena 15 Cambridge-Salem 12
Ravena, on a pair of rushing touchdowns, built a 15-6 advantage at the break and despite being held scoreless over the final two periods, hung on for the win over Cambridge/Salem at Stillwater on Saturday.
Indians quarterback Jacob Ruggles scored on a 23-yard tote in the first period and connected with Blake Baylor on a 55-yard scoring strike in the third frame pulling Cambridge/Salem to within three at 15-12.
Late in the fourth quarter C/S drove to the Ravena 15 yard line but the drive stalled and Ravena came away with the season-opening “W”.
Greenwich held a 20-18 lead heading into the break but Cambridge used a dominant 27-6 third period to take control on their way to the victory, finishing their season with a perfect 9-0 mark. Greenwich completes their year with an 8-3 record with all three losses coming against Cambridge.

South High held Stillwater to 19 points thru three quarters of play, and posted the comfortable win over the Warriors to finish the year with a perfect 12-0 mark. Stillwater enjoyed a fine season as well ending with an 8-3 record.

The Saints held a 45-41 lead heading into the final frame and held on for the win at Galway. The Saints played a big schedule in the abbreviated season competing in 17 runs, and finishing with an 8-9 record.
The Valley outscored the Panthers 30-13 after the break in capturing the season ending victory in Schaghticoke n Saturday. The Indians drilled nine triples in the win and wrap up a solid season at 8-5.

Mechanicville led 32-29 heading to the final period where the Raiders used an 18-9 advantage to seal the victory. Nine Raiders scored with D’Ambro leading the way for the 11-1 Mechanicville squad.

In a defensive battle between two elite squads, the game was knotted at 23 all entering the final frame where South High outscored the Raiders 15-8 to secure the road win. With the victory South High remains unbeaten at 11-0 on the year while Mechanicville drops just their second game, moving to 10-2 on the season.

Corinth led 17-1 after the first and rode that cushion to the home “W” over the Saints of Saratoga Catholic on Friday night.
The Witches held Hudson Falls to single numbers in every quarter, while offensively hitting for 25 first period points in breezing to the one-sided road win on Friday.
The Witches built a 36-19 lead by halftime and went on to post the comfortable road victory over Tamarac Thursday night in Clum’s Corners. Greenwich’s “Big Three” of Brophy, Niesz and Rojas combined for 66 points in the win.

Leading 42-41 entering the final frame, the Saints converted on 5 of 6 free throws in the quarter to outlast the Valley in Saratoga on Thursday. Spa Catholic moves to 6-9 with the win, while Hoosic Valley, with the loss, slips to 7-5 on the season.
A good number of Wasaren teams have enjoyed successful basketball seasons this year, while playing a different type of schedule with most teams having the opportunity to face opponents they typically would not when playing a Wasaren schedule. Two of those squads were in action on Wednesday and both the Cambridge girls and the Hoosic Valley boys stayed hot, capturing wins.

The talented Cambridge squad has rolled through most of their nine games thus far with little difficulty, as was the case in Hudson Falls Wednesday night where the Indians ran out to a 23-3 lead after the first period and cruised from there to the one-sided “W”. Cambridge placed three players in doubles with eight Indians scoring points on the night as Cambridge, with the win, remains undefeated with two contests remaining on the year.

Hoosic Valley built a 29-13 lead by the break and rode that cushion to the home victory over the Rams in Schaghticoke Wednesday night. After starting the season 1-4, the Indians have been on a roll with last night’s “W” being their sixth straight. Sophomores, Reilly and Eddy combined for 37 points in the run, and both started quickly teaming up for 19 of the Valley’s 21 first period points, a quarter that ended with a 20-7 Indian advantage.

On Senior Night in Stillwater a back and forth first half ended with Mechanicville holding a slim 31-30 lead, but the visiting Raiders slowly pulled away over the final two periods and notched the win over their neighboring rival on Tuesday night. D’Ambro’s 24 points led a trio of Raiders in double figures for the 11-1 Mechanicville squad. Stillwater ( 6-6 ) also posted three players in double figures with Lilac’s 14 points leading the way for the Warriors.
