Greg Mays threw for 102 yards and a pair of scores to lead Hoosick Falls/Tamarac past the Riders of Ichabod Crane in Watervliet on Saturday.
Josh Colegrove added scoring runs of five and 26 yards for HF/T who led 26-0 at the half.
Schuylerville 38 Mechanicville 0
Schuylerville running back Sam McGarrahan rushed for 135 and two touchdowns in the Black Horses shutout victory over the Red Raiders in Mechanicville on Saturday.
McGarrahan scored on runs of six and nine yards, while Schuylerville quarterback Owen Sherman threw for a score and ran for another in the season-opening win. The Schuylerville defense was stout in week one, holding Mechanicville to just 38 total yards in the game.
Lake George/Hadley Luzerne 12 Stillwater 8
Cole Clark ran for 117 yards and threw for 124 more in leading the War Eagles to the narrow victory over Stillwater on Saturday.
Clark’s 35-yard scoring romp with 5:00 remaining in the third period proved to the be difference as both squads defensive units pitched shutouts the rest of the way.
Stillwater took an 8-6 lead in the second frame on an Isaac Cutler 32-yard touchdown run at the 6:01 mark, with Tyler Paffen hitting C.J. McNeil for the two-point conversion.
Ravena 15 Cambridge-Salem 12
Ravena, on a pair of rushing touchdowns, built a 15-6 advantage at the break and despite being held scoreless over the final two periods, hung on for the win over Cambridge/Salem at Stillwater on Saturday.
Indians quarterback Jacob Ruggles scored on a 23-yard tote in the first period and connected with Blake Baylor on a 55-yard scoring strike in the third frame pulling Cambridge/Salem to within three at 15-12.
Late in the fourth quarter C/S drove to the Ravena 15 yard line but the drive stalled and Ravena came away with the season-opening “W”.
