Stillwater Posts Indian Bowl Win

stillwater warriorMake it three years in a row that the Stillwater Warriors have walked off the field victorious in their annual Indian Bowl Matchup with neighboring rival Mechanicville.  The walk offs have come on three different fields over the three year  stretch with the game results as different as the venues.

Two years ago Stillwater won close in Mechanicville, last year it was a blowout in Stillwater, and last night somewhere in between at Tamarac high school. Continue reading

Congratulations to Hoosick Falls football player Max Kipp on being named this week’s Wasaren Sportsnet Player of the Week.

In the first weekend of action for high school football, Kipp put together a nice season on a Saturday afternoon in Whitehall.

The junior running back ran for 201 yards and five touchdowns including a 66 yard jaunt for points in the opening quarter, and added a 98 yard kickoff return for six in leading the Panthers to a 52-32 victory over the Railroaders.

Congratulations to Max, our newest Wasaren Sportsnet Player of the Week.

Hoosick Falls Posts Dominant Win Over Railroaders

hoosick-falls-ny2When talking about the strength of Class C football teams this year let’s not forget to add the Panthers of Hoosick Falls to the list.  After a so-so season by Hoosick Falls standards last year the Falls opened in style posting a 52-32 “W” over the Railroaders with Max Kipp having a nice season on a Saturday afternoon on Whitehall.

Kipp rushed for 201 yards and five touchdowns and why not, a 98 yard kickoff return as well leading the Panthers to the comfortable win.  The junior back ran it in from 18, 66, 3, 35 and 9 yards out, to go with the return score that covered 98.

Liam McGarvin added 111 yards on the ground with a touchdown for the Falls which led 21-0 at the quarter break.

Leading Whitehall was quarterback Jake Moore who ran for 149 yards and scored a touchdown on the ground and through the air, connecting with Tyler Shattuck just before halftime.

Cambridge-Salem Rolls in Season-Opener

cambridge07After winning back to back state championships in Class D the Cambridge football team, with additional players from Salem, moves to Class C competition and while their competition on Saturday was a Class D squad, I think the Indians will fare well in their new classification.

Flashing a stable of backs that can take it the distance at any time, running behind a strong, experienced O-line the Indians cruised past Hoosic Valley 41-7 in Cambridge on Saturday. Continue reading
