Girls

Leading Scorers:  Cambridge – Sophie Phillips 22        Lily Phillips 20             Valley – Alex Rifenburg 14        Renee Serafin 11

Key Stat:  Cambridge took control early running out to a 21-9 lead at the quarter, and extended their advantage to 40-16 at the break.  The Cambridge defense turned Hoosic Valley over time and again, which resulted in numerous transition buckets for the Indians. Continue reading

On a January Wednesday in the Wasaren, four boys basketball games played out and at night’s end a close decision was no where to be found.

Leading Scorers:  Bengals – Anthony Ciampolillo 23        Bo Catherwood 19          Dan Honsinger 10              Mountaineers – Kasey Billert 10

Key Stat:  The Bengals scored 20 or more in every quarter, and put 10 players in the scoring column in the one-sided affair.

One-sided contests were the theme in girls basketball on Tuesday night as every winning squad did so by a comfortable margin.

Key Stat:  With no mercy rule in basketball sometimes games like this happen.  Erickson bottoms five triples, the Bengals drill eight as a team and Tamarac rolls to the victory over the Mountaineers. Continue reading

Leading Scorers:  Indians – Emaleigh Peckham 18 (6 – 3-pointers)        Renee Serafin 12 Panthers – Logan Thayne 17

Key Stat:  The Valley extended their 25-22 halftime lead with a 15-6 third period, and rode the long ball prowess of Peckham who drilled 6 of 8 from deep.

Key Stat:  Cambridge won every quarter and opened things up after the break outscoring the Falls 32-13 in the second half.

Key Stat:  Trailing 14-6 after the first period, the Bengals clamped down defensively holding Stillwater to single digits in the final three quarters and allowing just three Warriors to score points in the contest.      Continue reading

Wasaren Sportsnet Player of the Week

Congratulations to Hoosick Falls basketball player Jon Kempf on being named Wasaren Sportsnet Player of the Week.

This past week Kempf put together some outstanding numbers over a three game span.  Starting on December 28th the Panther junior scored 25 points including 14 of 16 from the foul line in 68-42 win over Ravena.

On January 2nd Kempf dropped 31 points and converted on 18 of 21 from the stripe in a 77-44 victory over Mt. Anthony.

Rounding out the week on Friday the 6’1″ forward handed Greenwich 25 points in the Panthers 67-45 win over the Witches.
