Cambridge Bests Mechanicville, Moves to 14-0

thCA7HET46

Cambridge traveled to Mechanicville on Saturday for an afternoon matchup with a Red Raider squad fully capable of handing the Indians their first loss of the year.  Didn’t happen.

The Indians outscored the Raiders 36-20 over the middle two periods on their way to a 55-42 decision and their 14th win this season.

In a game tied after eight minutes of play, Cambridge used a 17-8 advantage in the second period to take a 26-17 lead into the break and backed that with a 19-12 third quarter to take control.

The Indians helped themselves from the foul line converting on 18 of 24 while the Raiders attempted just seven from the stripe, cashing in on six.

A trio of freshman led the Cambridge attack with Lily Phillips scoring 15 points, including 11 of 12 from the stripe, her twin sister Sophie adding 13 points, and Fiona Mooney netting 12 points in the victory.

Taylor Grayson with 10 points showed that way for Mechanicville who with the loss slip to 6-4, 9-4 on the year.

In other girls action Saratoga Catholic used a 19-1 second period to fuel a 43-18 victory over Berlin. Continue reading

Cambridge Rolls Past Greenwich

thCA7HET46

The Cambridge girls have done many things well this basketball season on both sides  of the ball.  Turn teams over defensively, rebound and obviously score the ball with deep shooting prowess, but the most consistent thing the Indians have done thus far is put a number in the win column at game’s end.

Twelve times the ball’s gone up for Cambridge this year, and at the end of the run they’ve walked off with a “W” the last coming Thursday night in a 67-41 decision over Greenwich. Continue reading

Raiders Post Dominant “W” Over Fordians

thumbnailCADJQTVI

While the girls from Cambridge and Tamarac have led the way thus far in the Wasaren, the Red Raiders of Mechanicville are a squad that can play with anyone.  An athletic team with a number of legitimate scorers, the Raider can hurt opponents with transition buckets at the rim or knock down triples from behind the arc.

Mechanicville’s offensive prowess was on display Wednesday night in rolling over Waterford 72-30. Continue reading
