Red Raiders, Warriors Notch Wins

While weather impacted a handful of Tuesday’s scheduled games six league teams stepped on the hardwood in non league runs last night as holiday week continues.

Boys Basketball

Mechanicville 55  Schuylerville 52

Leading Scorers: Raiders – Giovanni D’Ambro 18   Evan Dunn 17   C.J.Tironi 10    Black Horses – Clayton Patrick 14   Zachary Pierce 14   Joshua Signor 13

Key Stat:  Both teams placed three players in doubles in an even game throughout.  A 14-9 second period proved the difference for the Red Raiders.

Take Away:  The Raiders improve to 7-1, including seven straight and are right back in action tonight taking on the Warriors of Lake George in a 5:30 run at Stillwater.

 

Stillwater 69  Lake George 57

Leading Scorers: Stillwater – Mitchel Wayand 33   Jared D’Aloia 17   Zach Travis 12    Warriors – Caleb Scrime 20

Key Stat: A 22-7 second period, and converting 20 of 33 free throws fueled the Stillwater “W”.

Take Away: Stillwater put’s their ninth straight win in the books and lay’s that unbeaten streak on the line tonight when they host Schuylerville at 7 p.m.

 

Granville 70  Salem 42

Leading Scorers:  Horde Matthew Fuller 21   Zach Vanderminden 14   Generals – Nate Holmes 12   Andrew Terry 11

Key Stat:  Granville throws a shutout in the first, out scoring the Generals 23-0, and the Horde coasted from there.

Take Away:  Granville improves to 3-7 with the victory while Salem at 0-11 continues to search for their first win of the season.

 

Girls Basketball

Tamarac 47  Cohoes 26

Leading Scorers:  Bengals – Emily Erickson 11    Cohoes – Nerea Brajac 9

Key Stat:  The Bengals held Cohoes to single digit scoring in each of the first three periods, building a 34-15 advantage on their way to the easy “W”.

Take Away: Tamarac goes to 6-3 on the season, while Cohoes with the loss falls to 3-7.

 

Stillwater 44  Burnt Hills 20

Leading Scorers: Warriors – Abby Higgins 21    Spartans – Kelly Waters 8

Key Stat: Stillwater held the Spartans to single numbers in all four quarters as Higgins put more points on the board than the Burnt Hills team.

Take Away:  Stillwater improves to 5-6 on the season with their next contest a week from tonight at Tamarac.  Burnt Hills searches for win number one at 0-9 on the year.

 

Cambridge 56  New Lebanon 19

Leading Scorers: Indians – Lila Nolan 11   Helen Mooney 11   New Leb – Alex Miller 7

Key Stat: Cambridge out scored New Lebanon 27-1 over the middle two periods on their way to the easy victory.

Take Away:  Cambridge at 7-2 has put together a nice first half of the season and look for this squad to make some noise in the race for the Wasaren title.
