Wasaren Boys; Falls Tops Mechanicville

As anyone who has followed the Wasaren over the years knows, it’s a battle every night out, and that held true Tuesday night as the Valley tested front-running Stillwater, while Hoosick Falls handed Mechanicville their second straight loss.

Leading Scorers: Falls – Remington Hickey 17    Guy Milliman 14   Connor McCart 12     Raiders – Giovanni D’Ambro 18    Evan Dunn 16    C.J. Tironi 10

Key Stat: The Red Raiders out scored the Panthers 32-30 in the second half but the Falls had built and 11 point cushion by halftime.  The lines were a big factor with the Falls converting on 17 free throws to the Raiders 9, and from beyond the arc Hoosick Falls held and 11-8 advantage in makes with six different Panthers finding the range from deep.

Take Away:  Both team are now 6-2 in league play, and both can still claim the Wasaren title.

 

Stillwater 50  Hoosic Valley 45

Leading Scorers: Warriors – Mitchel Wayand 21   Jared D’Aloia 14         Indians – Matt Espey 14   Jeff Carrozza 11

Key Stat: Stillwater held a 33-20 edge over the middle two periods to capture the well earned victory over the Indians who trailed by just two at the half, 24-22.

Take Away: The Warriors improve to 8-0 while the Valley absorbs the tough loss and drops to 3-5 in the league.

 

Greenwich 68   Tamarac 51

Leading Scorers: Witches – George Ostrowski 28   Brenden Stout 11   Lukas Whitehouse 10    Bengals – Dillon Maxon 17     Mike Morrow 11

Key Stat: A 21-10 first period for the Witches set the tone, for a comfortable win, a game in which Greenwich buried nine 3’s with five different players joining in.

Take Away:  Greenwich get’s their second league “W” putting 68 on the board, and with their ability to score the ball, should be a tough out over the remainder of the schedule.
