Boys Basketball; Warriors Win, Falls and Raiders Keep Pace

The boys race for the Wasaren crown has thinned to three squads and the trio all posted easy wins Tuesday night.  Stillwater stayed perfect in league play at 10-0 win a victory over Granville, while Hoosick Falls and Mechanicville secured “W’s” running their marks to 8-2 with four league games remaining.

Stillwater 70   Granville 50

Leading Scorers: Warriors – Mitchel Wayand 33   Jared D’Aloia 18   Zack Travis 13     Horde – Matthew Parker 11   Morgan Williams 11

Key Stat: With one quarter in the books Granville led 19-18, but a 27-9 second stanza gave the Warriors control.  Stillwater’s big three of Wayand, D’Aloia and Travis combined for 64 points, and that type of production has the Warriors eyeing a perfect Wasaren campaign.

Take Away:  Granville at 5-5, visits Mechanicville on Friday, while Stillwater hosts Hoosick Falls.

Leading Scorers: Red Raiders – Evan Dunn 15   Giovanni D’Ambro 14   Jacob Henes 12        Bengals – Dan Nealon 14  Anthony Zotto 12   Zack Johnson 11

Key Stat: Mechanicville ran out to a 41-19 lead at the half and cruised to the victory behind balanced scoring, placing three in doubles with C.J.Tironi just missing adding nine points to the Raider attack.

Take Away: Tamarac travels to Schghticoke on Friday to meet the Indians of Hoosic Valley, while the Raiders play host to Granville.

 

Hoosick Falls 53  Cambridge 34

Leading Scorers: Panthers – Connor McCart 19   Alex Mendez 11   Kellen Skott 10        Indians – Kordell Benson 10

Key Stat:  The Panthers, who allow their opponents the fewest points of any Wasaren squad, shut down Cambridge holding the Indians to single digits in three of the four quarters.

Take Away:  Cambridge at 0-10, looks for a win on Friday in home game against Greenwich, while the Falls is home for a big match up with Stillwater.

 

Hoosic Valley 57   Greenwich 54 OT

Leading Scorers: Valley – Dan Joslin 19  Isaac Sanchez 16  Witches – Lukas Whitehouse 20   George Ostrowski 15   Colin Skiff 10

Key Stat: In a close game throughout the Valley out scored Greenwich 7-4 in overtime to secure the win.

Take Away:  Hoosic Valley at 4-6 in league play host Tamarac on Friday while the 2-8 Witches travel to Cambridge for a run with the Indians.
