Tomorrow night all teams are back in action after shutting down league play for Regents week. Three games left on the Wasaren schedule and both the girls and boys races will most probably be decided on the last night of league play.
The Panthers of Hoosick Falls lead the way in the girls standings with a 10-1 mark, followed by Hoosic Valley at 9-2, and Tamarac at 8-3.
The Panthers control their own destiny and if they win out claim the title, but an away run with Tamarac on February 5th to finish the regular season will test them. A Bengal win would give the Falls their second loss and open the door for the Valley to share the league championship with the Panthers, if the Valley can stay clean in their last three.
The boys shape up in similar fashion with Stillwater leading the pack at 10-1, with Mechanicville and Hoosick Falls both at 9-2. Again if the Warriors win out the Wasaren crown is theirs but they entertain the Red Raiders of Mechanicville to finish the year and if the Raiders secure the “W” on that night we may have tri-champions on the boys side of things.
Those two scenarios play out out only if the teams mentioned don’t suffer an upset along the way and as anyone that follows the league knows, if you don’t bring your “A” game in the Wasaren, you probably go home with a loss.
