Girls Basketball; Top Four Notch Wins

Wednesday night the girls were in action and the top four squads in the Wasaren put a number in the win column.  Hoosick Falls continues to lead Hoosic Valley by a game, with one league contest remaining. 

Third place Tamarac will host the Panthers Friday night, while Hoosic Valley, looking for some help from the Bengals in hopes of sharing the crown with the Falls, takes on Cambridge.

Hoosick Falls 54   Greenwich 34

Leading Scorers: Panthers – Megan Flynn 20       Kelly Pine 13     Anna Wysocki 10       Witches – Olivia Barnes 12

Key Stat: A 20-4 third period for the Falls decided what otherwise was a close contest between the two squads.

Records: Hoosick Falls 12-1, 16-2     Greenwich 3-10, 8-10

 

Hoosic Valley 47   Granville 25

Leading Scorers: Valley – Cami Hren 11     Horde – Gabby Hunt 10

Key Stat: The Valley held Granville to single numbers in every quarter as they posted the comfortable victory.

Records: Hoosic Valley 11-2, 15-2    Granville 0-13, 3-14

 

Cambridge 42   Mechanicville 38

Leading Scorers: Indians – Helen Mooney 15    Olivia Mooney 10       Red Raiders – Sammy Pasinella 11       Julia Amedeo 11

Key Stat: A 9 of 34 effort from Cambridge at the free throw line kept this one closer than it needed to be, but the Indians prevailed with their eighth league win of the campaign.

Records: Cambridge 8-5, 13-6   Mechanicville 3-10, 4-13

 

Tamarac 56   Stillwater 48

Leading Scorers: Bengals – Emily Erickson 25    Hannah Kreiger 19    Warriors – Abby Higgins 12    Danika Svendsen 10

Key Stat: A 20-10 final period gave Tamarac the come-from -behind victory, behind Erickson and Kreiger who combined for 44 points on the night.

Records: Tamarac 1-3, 13-5     Stillwater 5-8, 8-11
