Yesterday we previewed the Mechanicville/Stillwater game and it’s implications on the league title. Let’s not forget the third team playing tonight who also has a shot at a piece of the Wasaren crown.
Hoosick Falls enters play tonight tied with Mechanicville, both squads trailing front-running Stillwater by a single game. If the Panthers handle their business this evening versus Tamarac, and Mechanicville gets past Stillwater all three teams would share the championship.
Hoosick Falls has been the hottest team in the league over the second half of the schedule, winners of nine straight Wasaren runs.
The Panthers score 56.6 per game and allow 45.3 defensively. They’ve made 113 three pointers on the year, and shoot 63% from the free throw line.
They’re led offensively by three double figure scorers, senior Connor McCart at 19.8 points, Remington Hickey 12.3, and Alex Mendez at 10.2 points per game.
Tamarac steps on the floor tonight, winners in 4 of their last 6, but fell hard in their last outing dropping a 74-28 decision to Stillwater.
The Bengals score 50.7 points nightly and give up 52.0 points defensively. They’ve knocked down 74 triples on the season and have converted 56.6% from the foul line.
Senior Dillon Maxon leads Tamarac in scoring with 15.7 points per, while teammate Anthony Zotto adds 9.7 to the Bengals attack.
In the first meeting between the two squads the Falls came away with a 59-37 victory, holding the Bengals to just nine total points over the middle two periods.
I believe it will be Senior Night in Hoosick Falls this evening, and that coupled with what’s on the line for the Panthers, makes for what could be a long night for Tamarac.
Look for the Falls to get it done, who in turn will look to Stillwater, hoping for some help from the Red Raiders.
