In a spring season of fits and starts, some Wasaren squads dodging rain, wind and soggy fields, actually took to the diamond this week.

On Monday Hoosic Valley posted a pair of wins over Tamarac in softball and baseball.

The Lady Indians posted an 8-1 decision with Camille Coyne firing a three-hitter while fanning 11. Sierra Casale paced the Valley attack with a pair of doubles and a home run.

The Valley boys bested the Bengals with a 7-2 “W”, Alex Carlo with a three-run double, and Matt Espey a two hit day leading the way for the Indians.

Also earlier in the week the Red Raiders of Mechanicville topped Granville 10-1.  Winning pitcher Curtis Tironi struck out 11, and Donevan Mysliwiec was 3-4 with 3 RBI’s at the plate for the Raiders.

Yesterday it was Greenwich all over Stillwater 24-0 in a softball get together. Rachel Hall fanned 9 over five innings, and Gabby Wiss with three hits and four RBI’s led the Witches offense.

Also in softball Hoosick Falls got past Granville 11-3.  Erika Quackenbush and Syd Miller both ripped round trippers for the Falls, and Quackenbush struck out 10 in picking up  the win from the circle.

One baseball game was reported from Wednesday, with Greenwich downing Stillwater 10-5.  George Ostrowski fanned 7 and allowed just one earned run in picking up the decision for the Witches.  Cole Burgess went 3-4 with 3 RBI’s, and Derek McPhail was 2-4 with an RBI for Greenwich.
