Indians, Witches Post Wins

Many Wasaren baseball and softball teams were in action on Thursday afternoon with some squads playing league games, and others competing in non league affairs.  The Greenwich boys notched an easy “W” over Mechanicville, and the Cambridge girls won comfortably over Tamarac.

Here’s a breakdown of all the contests from a Thursday in the Wasaren.

Baseball:

Greenwich 15   Mechanicville 4

Winning Pitcher: John Miller

Leading Hitters: Witches – John Walsh 3-4 3 RBI’s, Carson Mosher 2-3, 2 RBI’s, Derek McPhail 2-3 RBI       Raiders – CJ Tironi 2-4 2b, RBI

Key Stat: Greenwich scored 11 runs over the first three frames, jumping out to an 11-2 lead and coasting to their second victory in as many starts.

Next Up: Today Greenwich hosts Hoosick Falls, and Mechanicville hosts Cambridge with first pitch at 4:15

 

Hoosick Falls 4  Stillwater 1

Winning Pitcher: Wyatt Whitman 3 hitter, 14 K’s

Leading Hitters: Falls – Wyatt Whitman 3b, two-run 1b,  Riley Bacon a pair of 1b’s   Warriors – Tim Travis 1b, run scored

Key Stat: Hoosick Falls hung a three spot in the third and that was more than enough for Whitman who was dominant on the afternoon.

Next Up: Today Hoosick Falls @ Greenwich, Stillwater @ Tamarac

 

Whitehall 7  Granville 0

Winning Pitcher: Evan St.Clair 5 IP, 8 K’s

Leading Hitters: Railroaders – Kyle Welch 2-4, 2b, 2RBI’s,  Golden Horde – Bailey Daigle 4-4

Next Up: Fort Ann @ Whitehall, Hoosic Valley @ Granville

 

Softball

Cambridge 12  Tamarac 5

Winning Pitcher: Miranda Seacord

Leading Hitters: Indians- Kayla Giglio 2-3, 2b, 3 RBI’s, Jamie VanDeWater 2-3, 3 RBI’s, Victoria Dupuis 2-4, 2b, RBI

Key Stat: Down 2-0 after the first Cambridge scored seven times over the next two frames to take control.

Next Up: Cambridge @ Mechanicville, Stillwater @ Tamarac

 

Mount Anthony 13  Hoosick Falls 5

Winning Pitcher: Taylor D’Cranion

Leading Hitters: Mt. Ant – Katy O’Brien 3 1b’s, Taylor D’Cranion 1b. 2b     Falls – Ericka Quackenbush HR, 1b,  Syd Miller HR

Key Stat: Mount Anthony scored six, in the top of the seventh to put away what had been a close game throughout.

Next Up: Hoosick Falls @ Greenwich
