Witches, Horde Win, Raiders Fall

baseball As the teams of the Wasaren wrap up a week of non league affairs, no squad had a better run these past seven days than the Greenwich baseball team who added yet another win on Friday.  Granville also picked up a victory over North Warren in a game played at East Field, while the Red Raiders of Mechanicville fell hard to Hudson Falls.

Greenwich 11 Duanesburg 1

Winning Pitcher: Lukas Whitehouse

Leading Hitters: Witches – Carson Mosher grand slam,  Derek McFale 2 1b’s, RBI

Key Stat: Greenwich plated five in the first frame, and Whitehouse allowed just  a pair of hits in five innings to pick up the victory.


Granville 11  North Warren 9

Winning Pitcher: Bailey Daigle

Leading Hitters: Horde – Nick Sumner 3-4, 2b,  Austin Buxton 2-4,  Zak Vanderminden 2-4    North Warren – Orry Bruce 2-4,  James Haynes 2-4

Key Stat: Granville, who trailed 5-1 after two innings, scored nine runs over the middle three frames to take control in this one.


Hudson Falls 10  Mechanicville 2

Winning Pitcher: Zach Swartz 6 IP  9 K’s

Leading Hitters: Tigers – Owen Ovitt 2-3, 2b, 4 RBI’s, Tom Kiernan 2-3, 4 RBI’s    Raiders – Jacob Henes 3-3

Key Stat: Mechanicville led 2-1 after three, but Hudson Falls hung a five-spot in the fourth, and scored four more in the fifth, cruising to the win over the Raiders.
