Wasaren Diamonds

cropped-baseball_002.jpgAfter splitting a doubleheader on Thursday Greenwich and Cambridge softball squads posted wins on Friday as did the Panthers of Hoosick Falls.

In baseball Greenwich topped Stillwater for their ninth win in ten league outings. Here’s a breakdown of Friday’s action from the diamonds of the Wasaren.

Softball

Greenwich 12  Stillwater 0

Winning Pitcher: Rachel Hall

Leading Hitters: Witches – Gabbie VanDeWater 1b, 2b,  Rachel Hall 2 1b’s, 3 RBI’s      Warriors – Kylie Welcome 1b,  Gianna Moraci 1b

Key Stat: Hall throws a two-hit shutout as Greenwich moves to 9-2 in Wasaren play.

 

Hoosick Falls 5  Granville 3

Winning Pitcher: Erika Quackenbush

Leading Hitters: Panthers – Erika Quackenbush three-run homer,  Syd Miller 2b, RBI       Horde – Angie Stewart 1b, 2b

Key Stat: While the Falls bats managed just three hits on the day, Quackenbush’s three run shot in the third proved to be the difference.

 

Cambridge 8  Tamarac 4

Winning Pitcher: Miranda Seacord

Leading Hitters:  Indians – Kayla Giglio 1b, 3b, 3 RBI’s, Jamie VanDeWater 3 1b’s, Miranda Seacord 2 1b’s, RBI

Key Stat: A four run fourth by the Indians broke open a close contest.

 

Baseball

Greenwich 9  Stillwater 5

Winning Pitcher: Carson McKinley

Leading Hitters: Witches – Derek McPhail 2b, 3b, RBI,  Carson Mosher 2 1b’s, 3 RBI’s   John Walsh 2 1b’s     Warriors – Scott Travis 1b, 2b

Key Stat: The Greenwich lineup scored plated five in the fourth, and half of their hits in the game went for extra bases.
