A Big Monday in the Wasaren


Girls soccer, golf, field hockey and volleyball all played out in the league on Monday with the fall sport seasons all in full swing.

Girls Soccer:

Mechanicville 4  Cambridge 0: Four different players found the back of the net in the Raiders win over Cambridge. 

Mackenzie Bowen and Jada Brown scored first half goals, and Lea Hickey and Michalena Depasquate tallied after the break to power the Mechanicville attack.

Lauren Clays with five saves earned the shutout for the Raiders.


Tamarac 3  Hoosic Valley 0:  Sydney Moss with a goal and a pair of assists led the Bengals to the shutout win over Hoosic Valley.

Lauren Lockrow and Lauren Hunt found the range with goals for Tamarac and Bengal keeper Sarah Gibbs with four saves recorded the shutout.


Greenwich 2  Waterford 0:  The Witches Lauren Maine scored a goal in each half, and Greenwich keeper Courtney Fraher with six saves earned the shutout, as the Witches notched their first win of the season besting the Fordians of Waterford.



Saratoga Catholic 4   Cambridge 1:  Terel Tillman fired a 38 to take medalist honors and lead the Saints to the win over the Indians in a match played at Saratoga Spa State Park.

Jay Flynn, Ben Scammell, and Jake Welcome all posted “W’s” for Spa Catholic, while Ethan Jeskie claimed Cambridge’s point with a win in his flight 3 match.


Hoosick Falls 3  Greenwich 2:  Ryan Bloomer, Matthew Smith and Hayden Smith earned individual wins to pace the Falls narrow victory over Greenwich.

Jake Bowes and Darren Pemrick notched wins for Greenwich, Bowes shooting the low round of the day at the Hoosick Falls Country Club with his 38.


Field Hockey

Greenwich 5  Warrensburg 0:  It was all Greenwich in this one as the Witches scored two first half goals and three more after intermission coasting to the easy win over the Burgers.

Sabrina Whitehouse scored twice, and Casey Perkins, Hannah Walsh, and Hannah Dauenhuer added single goals fueling the Greenwich attack.

Olivia Barnes with 18 saves kept Warrensburg off the board as the Witches improve to 3-0 in league play with the win.


Hoosick Falls 4  Corinth 0:  Offensively the Panthers put a pair of goals on the board in both halves, while defensively locking down on Corinth to earn the shutout “W” over the Tomahawks.

Eliza Whitman with a pair of goals, and Ally Burdick and Caitlyn Boyd with single tallies led the Falls offense, while Panther keeper’s Zoe Gress and Kaitlyn Backes combined for four saves and the shutout.



Schuylerville 3  Spa Catholic 1

Scores: 25-22  9-25  25-11  25-23

Spa Catholic – Grace Fornabia 9 service points, 5 aces, 10 kills,  Elise Browell 10 service points, 6 aces, 16 assists


Stillwater 3  Fort Edward 1

Scores: 25-13  25-17  14-25  25 -14

Stillwater – Bre Sheehan 1 ace, 7 kills,  Emily Prince 3 kills, 6 aces


Mechanicville 3  Corinth 0

Scores:  25-12  25-20  25-12

Mechanicville – Alivia Wood 10 service points, 7 aces,  Kalli Gilbert 15 service points, 10 aces,  Lyndsay Robens 4 kills
