The race for the Wasaren title has been a two team affair most of the season between Stillwater and Mechanicville with Hoosick Falls and Tamarac on the fringe. After Thursday’s action it looks like the second meeting between the Warriors and Red Raiders next Tuesday in Mechanicville will decide things.
Tamarac 0 Stillwater 0 OT: The two teams battled to the scoreless deadlock and the contest couldn’t have been much closer. Both Stillwater keeper Danika Svendsen and Bengal keeper Sarah Gibbs finished with 10 saves each, while Stillwater had four corner kicks and Tamarac three.
With the tie Stillwater’s mark is 12-0-2, and Tamarac goes to 8-3-3.
Mechanicville 7 Waterford: Six players scored goals for the Raiders as they notched the important win over the Fordians.
Lea Hickey with two goals, and Mackenzie Bowie, Mya Demarco, Madeline Garone, Lauren Claeys, and Michalena DePasquale with single tallies paced Mechanicville who improve to
11-1 on the year.
Hoosick Falls 3 Greenwich 0: Taylor Mann with a pair of strikes led the Panthers (8-4-1), to the win. Teammate Maddy Apherton added a goal and keeper Sydney Miller saved six shots in earning the shutout.
Courtney Fraher saved 26 shots in the contest or the Witches.
Cambridge 5 Hoosic Valley 0: The Indians sored four second half goals to pull away from the Valley and post the “W”.
Miranda Seacord with the hat trick, and Grace Snyder and Vanessa Evans with single strikes provided the offense for Cambridge (7-6), and Laura Vellucci turned back four shots for the Indians in the shutout.
