Boys Basketball; Raiders, Falls Notch Wins

Mechanicville 57   Saratoga Catholic 54:  The Red Raiders built a comfortable lead through three quarters and withstood a late charge by Spa Catholic, to get past the Saints in the league-opener for both squads.

Mechanicville led 47-35 after three periods of play and weathered the Spa comeback in the fourth to post their first win of the season.

Kendrick McCann with 14 points, Peter Enzien and Nick Billert with 13 each, and Alex Ciulla with 11 points led a balanced Raider attack.

Tyler Haraden led all scorers with 22 points and teammate Connor Farrington added 17 for Spa Catholic who bottomed 12 3-pointers in the contest but needed more on this night.

 

Hoosick Falls 57   Stillwater 40:  The Panthers outscored Stillwater 39-18 in the second half to earn the come from behind victory over the Warriors.

Trailing 22-18 the Falls used a 22-4 third period to take control with Jonathan Kempf scoring nine of his 15 points in the quarter.  Evan McCart with 16 points, Guy Milliman with 11, and CJ Baker with 10 points rounded out the Panther quartet in double figures.

Jared D’Aloia knocked down four triples and 20 points on the night to lead Stillwater.
