Baseball/Softball; Witches Sweep Stillwater, Bengals Split with Cambridge

On a full Thursday of action in the league, Greenwich pounded Stillwater on both diamonds while Cambridge and Tamarac split a pair of one-run decisions.


Greenwich 22  Stillwater 3

Winning Pitcher:  Bailey Winch 6 IP, 4 hits, 8 K’s

Leading Hitters:  Witches – John Miller 2-4, Grand Slam 4 RBI’s,    Derek McPhail 4-4, 3B, 4 RBI’s    John Walsh 4-5, RBI    Cole Burgess 4-6, 2B, 2 RBI’s        Warriors – John Tedesco 2-3

Keys:  Greenwich ripped 25 hits in the contest, securing their first league win of the season over a Stillwater club that entered 2-1 in Wasaren play.


Waterford 2  Hoosic Valley 0

Winning Pitcher:  Connor Houle  3-hit shutout, 2 K’s

Leading Hitters:  Fordians – Robert Walek 2 2B’s, RBI

Keys:  Houle and the Fordians won a pitcher’s duel as the Valley’s Jake Soucy was dealing as well, allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out eight in going the distance for the Indians.


Hoosick Falls 12  Mechanicville 5

Winning Pitcher:  Ryan Sanders

Leading Hitters:  Falls – Cody Hodges 3 singles 2 RBI’s    Brandon Decker 2 singles, 2 RBI’s     Raiders – Jacob LaFountain 3 singles, RBI    Nick Billert 2 1B’s, 2B, 2 RBI’s

Keys:  The Panthers plated six runs in the bottom of the sixth to notch the “W” and even their league mark at 3-3.


Tamarac 8  Cambridge 7

Winning Pitcher:  Matt Fox 4 IP, 3 ER, 4 K’s

Leading Hitters:  Bengals – Matt Fox 2-4, 2 RBI’s    Connor Wright 2-4    Tristan Nemjo 2-2, RBI     Indians – Jake Harrington 3-4, RBI

Keys:  With the win Tamarac improves to 3-1 in league play while Cambridge continues to search for their first Wasaren victory, falling to 0-5 with the loss.

Keys:  The Witches ran out to a 12-0 lead after three frames and cruised to their fourth league win in as many outings.


Cambridge 2  Tamarac 1

Winning Pitcher:  Miranda Seacord

Leading Hitters:  Indians – Miranda Seacord 2 1B’s    Mattie Clifton 2B    Shelby Sharp 1B, 2B including the game-winner in the bottom of the ninth

Keys:  Cambridge improves to 3-0 in the Wasaren with the extra inning victory.
