The Hoosic Valley softball program in recent years has grown accustomed to playing well into June with the Indians advancing to the state semifinals just a season ago. This year however it was early April that caught everyone’s attention as the Valley dropped their first two contests for an 0-2 start.
Since that start the Indians have won 5 of 6 and evened their league mark at 3-3 including a 3-2 victory over Tamarac on Friday.
Yesterday in Schaghticoke the Valley plated a run in the second, and a pair in the third to give right-hander Camille Coyne a three run cushion.
Tamarac scored twice in the fourth frame, but Coyne and the Valley defense shut down the Bengals the rest of the way to notch the “W”.
Coyne allowed just three hits, walked two and fanned eight in picking up the win from the circle, while at the plate helped her own cause with a two-run single.
Tamarac was led by McKenna Ryan and Nicole Madigan who both doubled for the Bengals who slip to 1-4 on the year.
