Greenwich and Cambridge got together in Cambridge on Thursday for baseball and softball contests in a season where both girls squads are rolling while the boys teams have struggled. Yesterday Greenwich rode a strong pitching performance from freshman Christian O’Brien to an 11-5 victory, while the Lady Witches needed extra frames to turn back the Indians.

Summary: The Witches scored single runs in the fourth and fifth frames and rode that 2-0 advantage into the seventh where Cambridge plated a pair to send the game into extra innings. Greenwich scored three times in the top of the eighth, and the Indians managed to score twice in the bottom of the frame but their come back effort came up just short, and the Witches remain undefeated at 8-0 on the year.
