Three weeks into the 2017 high school football season Mechanicville and Greenwich own perfect 3-0 marks. Both the Witches and Red Raiders posted easy wins on Saturday and join two other Wasaren schools in Stillwater and Cambridge with undefeated campaigns thus far.
Greenwich 48 Warrensburg 18: Cole Burgess ran for two scores and threw for another, while Reese Cristaldi also scored three times including a 75-yard interception return as the Witches rolled over the Burgers in Warrensburg on Saturday.
The home squad actually broke on top taking a 6-0 lead on an Evan MacDuff to Cole Lanfear 24-yard touchdown throw and catch, but Greenwich scored 34 unanswered to take control and post their third win in as many outings.
Mechanicville 60 Cairo Durham 6: Mechanicville quarterback Dan Motta connected on four touchdown strikes to lead the Red Raiders to the one-sided victory over the Mustangs of Cairo Durham.
Freshman Mason Angiano added a 45-yard punt return for a six as Mechanicville, who led 34-0 at halftime, cruised to their third straight “W” to start the season.
