Diamond Action

Wednesday brought with it a full slate of softball and baseball action in the Wasaren as teams played in relatively dry, but cool conditions.

Softball

Saratoga Catholic 11  Hoosic Valley 10 (8)

Winning Pitcher:  Victoria Alford 8 IP  8 K’s

Hitting Stars:  Saints – Cassidy Hayner 3-4, HR, 2B, 5 RBIs     Emmy Murray 3-5, RBI      Valley – Brianna Bogue 4-5     Hollis Guilanelle 2-4

An extra inning affair that saw the Saints score four times in the top of the eighth, while the Valley plated three runs in the bottom of the frame before Spa closed things out.

 

Greenwich 12  Berlin 0

Winning Pitcher:  Helen Smith 5 IP 10 K’s

Hitting Stars:  Witches – Lauren Maines 4-4, 2 RBIs     Devin Drew 3-4     Courtney Fraher 3-4, 2 RBIs

Smith limited the Mountaineers to a pair of singles while the Greenwich attack ripped 16 hits in the victory.

 

Cambridge 11  Waterford 3

Winning Pitcher:  Miranda Seacord 12 K’s

Hitting Stars:  Indians – Miranda Seacord HR     K. Giglio 3 1B’s       Fordians – Emily Kelley 1B, 2B, 2 RBIs

Trailing 3-2, Cambridge scored five in the fifth to take control, on their way to the “W”.

 

Mechanicville 14  Stillwater 0

Winning Pitcher:  Erin Salvadore No-Hitter 5 K’s 1 BB

Hitting Stars:  Red Raiders – Erin Salvadore HR, 2B, 1B, 2 RBIs     Patty Snyder 3 1B’s

Salvadore spins a five inning gem leading the Raiders to the win over the neighboring rival Warriors.

 

Baseball

Waterford 8  Cambridge 4

Winning Pitcher:  Castracani

Hitting Stars:  Fordians – C. Houle 2-2, RBI     Michael Talavera 2B     Phelan 3B      Indians – Epler 1-4 RBI

A five-run third fueled the victory for Waterford.

 

Saratoga Catholic 14  Hoosic Valley 2

Winning Pitcher:  Terel Tillman 6 IP  5 Hits  14 K’s

Hitting Stars:  Saints – Nick Winslow 3-4, 2 2B’s, RBI     Tyler Haraden 2-4, HR, 3 RBIs     Kaden Learch 3-5, 2B, 4 RBIs      Valley – Justin Sawyer 2-3, RBI     Kessler Waldron 3B     Nick Santiago 2B, RBI

After allowing a pair of runs in the first, Tillman and the Spa defense shutout the Indians the rest of the way, while the Saints attack mashed 14 hits in the win.

 

Tamarac 6  Hoosick Falls 5

Winning Pitcher:  Tristan Nemjo 3 2/3 IP  0 Runs  9 K’s

Hitting Stars:  Bengals – Jack Mulligan 2-3, 2 2B’s     Ryan Derby 2-4, 2 RBIs     Dalton Maxon 1-4, 2 RBIs      Falls – Ryan Bloomer 2-3, 3 RBIs

Trailing 5-2 the Bengals plated 4 runs in the bottom of the seventh highlighted by a Ryan Derby game winning, two out, two-run single giving Tamarac the come-from-behind “W”.

A 10 run first, set the tone in the one-sided victory for Greenwich.
