Saints Clinch Battenkill Division

With the regular season winding down in the Wasaren the Saints of Saratoga Catholic clinched the Battenkill Division on Wednesday posting a win over Hoosic Valley in softball action.

The Hudson division is still up for grabs and a trio of teams with a shot at the division, Greenwich, Tamarac, and Mechanicville, all helped themselves with Wednesday “W’s” as well.

Softball

Saratoga Catholic 8  Hoosic Valley 5

Winning Pitcher:  Victoria Alvord

Leading Hitters:  Saints – Molly O’Reilly 2-4, HR, 4 RBI’s     Victoria Alvord 1-2, 3B, 2 RBI’s     Cassidy Hayner 1-2, 3B        Valley – Alex Rifenburg 1-3, HR      Hollis Guilianelle 1-4, 2 RBI’s

The Saints jumped out to a 7-0 advantage after two, and closed out the Valley to clinch the Battenkill Division.

 

Greenwich  14  Stillwater 0

Winning Pitcher:  Lily McAuliffe one-hitter  11 K’s

Leading Hitters:  Witches – 2 1B’s, 2B. 2 RBI’s      Mackenzie Moy 1B, 3 RBI’s     Brittany 2 1B’s, 2 RBI’s      Jen Wilbur 2 1B’s, RBI        Warriors – Gianna Moraci 2B

Greenwich plates five in each of the first two frames, and McAuliffe spins a beauty as the Witches improve to 9-2 in league play.

 

Tamarac 20  Cambridge 1

Winning Pitcher:  Maggie Kelley 5 IP  3 Hits  10 K’s

Leading Hitters:  Bengals – McKenna Ryan 5-5, 3 2B’s, HR, 5 RBI’s      Gianna Bucciero 3-4      Gabby Castiglione 2-3, HR      Jess Heinrichs 2-3, 2B         Indians – Victoria Dupuis HR

Tamarac scored 17 runs over innings three and four in posting the easy win and move to 10-1 in the Wasaren.

 

Mechanicville 2  Hoosick Falls 0

Winning Pitcher  Alivia Wood  three-hitter  8 K’s

Leading Hitters:  Red Raiders – Alivia Wood 2 1B’s      Lea Hickey 1B, RBI      Lily Noyes 2 1B’s       Falls – Marissa Landry 2 1B’s

The Raiders pushed across single runs in the third and sixth frames to earn the narrow decision over the Falls.

 

Baseball

Tamarac 5  Greenwich 4

Winning Pitcher:  Tyler Nemjo

Leading Hitters:  Bengals – Tristan Nemjo 3-4, 2B, RBI      Jake Scharnott 2-4, 2 2B’s, RBI      Dalton Maxon 2-3, HR, 2 RBI’s

The Bengals broke a 4-4 tie with a run in the top of the sixth and held on for the road victory over the Witches.  With the “W” Tamarac goes to 9-3 in league play just a game behind the 10-2 Witches.

 

Mechanicville 15  Berlin 1

Winning Pitcher:  Derek Proper 5 IP  0 ER  8 K’s

Leading Hitters:  Red Raiders – John Pingelski 2-2         Berlin Henry Ruedal 1-2, RBI

The Raiders behind Proper notch the easy victory over the Mountaineers.
