It’s hard to believe with the start of school three weeks away, that the fall season for high school athletics in underway. The golf schedule as always leads us into the new year and over the past two days most of the league’s golf teams have competed in match play.
Here’s a look at how things played out as the 2018 edition of Wasaren athletics tees off.
Saratoga Catholic 3 Greenwich 2: Terel Tillman carded a 38 to take medalist honors and lead the Saints to the narrow victory over the Witches in a match played at the Battenkill Country Club.
Garrett Quinn and Billy Murdick along with Tillman notched the three wins for Spa Catholic, while Reed Boduch and Mason Williamson posted victories in flights two and three for Greenwich.
Waterford 4 Cambridge 1: Waterford behind forfeit wins in flights 3, 4, and 5 earned the “W” in action at Fairways of Halfmoon on Thursday.
Dom Pontore captured a win for Waterford in the match which saw Cambridge’s Nethaniel Woodcock fire a 46 to claim medalist honors and the flight one win.
Hoosick Falls 5 Hoosic Valley 0: In a match played at the Hoosick Falls Country Club the Panthers swept the Indians with Ryan Bloomer’s 37 leading the way.
Matt Smith, Miles Smith, Brady Hathaway and Alison Hathaway completed the sweep for the homestanding Falls squad.
Hoosick Falls 5 Tamarac 0: The Panthers post a sequel of their Thursday match with the sweep of the Bengals on Friday at the Hoosick Falls Country Club.
Ryan Bloomer carded the low score if the day firing an impressive round of 33, while teammates Matt and Miles Smith, and Brady and Alison Hathaway all added individual wins for the Panthers.
Tamarac 4 Stillwater 0: In action at Frear Park Golf Course in Troy on Thursday the Bengals notched wins in all four flights to turn back the Warriors.
Will Ashley enjoyed the low round of the match carding a 39, and Michael Jacques, Zach Krill and Nate Krill handled their business in flights 2, 3, and 4 to complete the Tamarac sweep.
