The Greenwich girls cross country team headed to Schenectady Saturday morning to compete in the 80th annual Everett T. Grout Memorial Invitational. The top ranked Class C team in the state handled their business placing their first five runners in the top 11 to win the Division II race with 24 points, besting second place Washingtonville by 39 points.
The Witches Nina Sgambelluri won the race covering the 2-75 mile course in 15:46 with teammate Brynn Wright next to finish at 15:54. Rounding out the top five for the Witches were Teagan Wright (fourth), Emma Cronin (sixth), and Emily Skiff (11th).
Way to go Greenwich! Landing top six runners in the first twelve spots. Impressive!
