Cambridge 42 Whitehall 0: Gabe Scambettera ran for three scores, Kaedin Ogilvie added a rushing touchdown and a punt return for six, and the Cambridge defense threw the shutout in Whitehall Saturday afternoon.
Ogilvie’s touchdowns both came in the first period, the second a 97-yard punt return giving the Indians a 14-0 advantage after one quarter of play.
Cambridge added two more scores in the second period on a Jacob Ruggles TD connection to Soyer Matteson and Scambettera’s first rushing score from 23 yards out.
The 28-0 lead at the break was more than enough as the Cambridge defense dominated play throughout, holding Whitehall to 127 total yards with no passing yardage on the day.
Midway through the third Scambettera scored on a two-yard carry and wrapped the scoring in the game early in the final period with a 1-yard TD tote.
With the win Cambridge/Salem goes to 5-1 and will complete it’s regular season in Granville next Saturday where they’ll meet the 4-1 Golden Horde.
Tamarac 28 Canajoharie 24: Jonah Rescott ran for 257 yards on 31 carries and three touchdowns to lead the Bengals in the win over Canjo.
Rescott scored on runs of 31, 14, and 44 yards the latter giving Tamarac a 28-7 lead early in the third period, and the Bengals survived a Canajoharie comeback to earn the “W”.
The Bengals move to 3-2 on the year with the win and will host Mechanicville next Friday night in their regular season finale.
