The Maroon and White train, better known as the Stillwater girls soccer team continued it’s roll down the tracks on Saturday, posting a 4-0 victory over Ausable Valley in a Class C state quarterfinal, setting up it’s final destination of the season as the Warriors will take the familiar trip to Cortland next weekend to compete in the girls soccer state final four.
On Saturday the Warriors opened the scoring with a first half goal when Teya Staie finished a Keelyn Peacock find giving Stillwater a 1-0 advantage they would take into the halftime break.
In the second half the Warriors opened things up starting with a Kate McEvoy scoring strike off a Paige Brinsko feed, followed by a pair of Brooke Pickett goals off assists from Devon Wagner and Staie as Stillwater punched their ticket to a third straight state semifinal appearance.
Stillwater keeper Kiersten Conroy saved two shots and combined with the Warrior defense for the shutout, their second in the past last three outings.
With the win the defending state champion Warriors move to 20-0-2 on the year and will head west to Cortland High School on Saturday to face Marion High School of Section V in a Class C seminal at 12:30 p.m.
