The Cambridge girls basketball team is spending the Martin Luther King weekend in New York City, taking advantage of an opportunity to play in a pair of games against high end competition.
On Saturday the Indians faced Baldwin of Long Island in the Rose Classic Super Slam tournament. The game was close throughout with each period decided by a two point margin. The Indians held a 26-22 advantage at the half, but Baldwin claimed the final two periods, catching Cambridge and forcing overtime.
After stalemates in the first two overtime sessions the Indians outscored Baldwin 8-4 in the third overtime period to secure the win.
Cambridge bottomed seven triples in the game while Baldwin connected on just two. The Indians also held an advantage from the free throw line converting 14 of 28 from the stripe, with Baldwin hitting on 5 of 15.
The team will enjoy an off day on Sunday, and will be back in action on Monday in a noon run with Nazareth Academy.
