Mechanicville 15 Spa Catholic 2: It was Senior Night in Mechanicville on Monday with special recognition and all the trimmings given to the players of the 2022 class. But on the turf it was business as usual, with the Red Raiders posting yet another dominant “W”, rolling to a 15-2 decision over the Saints.
Senior Seth Johnson triggered the scoring parade driving home a penalty kick just two minutes in, and by night’s end nine Raiders had rung the bell.
Wyquie Aguda and Colin McNutt both struck for hat tricks, Andrew Kraszewski and Luke Micklas added two goals a piece , while Jake Eiseman, Ryan Grimmick, Gordan Jenney, Tom Hickey and Seth Johnson all connected one time for Mechanicville.
Aiden Law, with goals in each half, accounted for the Saints offense in the match.
With the win Mechanicville moves to 9-0 on the season, and will host Waterford on Wednesday night.
Waterford 3 Greenwich 0: After a scoreless first half of play, the Fordians connected three times after the break to notch the road victory over the Witches.
The Fordians got on the board in the 54th minute when Jarron Maquire found Josh Catanzarita, who finished for the 1-0 lead.
Minutes later Waterford’s Tristan Carutasu made a great hustle play and fed Catanzarita for his second tally of the match.
The Fordians wrapped up the scoring in the 71st minute off a find and finish, Catanzarita to Benji Mills, and Waterford closed out their 6th win in 8 outings this season.
Fordian keeper Alex Roy saved eight, and combined with the Waterford “D” for the clean sheet.
The Witches Owen Keech, who had a great day in the net, denied eight shots in the match.
Hoosic Valley 7 Hoosick Falls 2: The Valley wasted little time in taking control, scoring twice in the first three minutes on their way to the home “W” over the Falls.
In the opening minute Logan Reilly finished a corner kick from Tyler Eddy and the Indians jumped out to the 1-0 advantage.
In the third minute an Eddy cross found Tom Rice, who’s header beat the Panther keeper for the 2-0 cushion.
Hoosic Valley built a 4-1 lead by halftime and after the break closed things out for the comfortable win.
Six Valley players split the posts for goals with Eddy scoring a pair, and Reilly, Rice, Tyler Cavert, Jack Wiley and Isiah Eckler all adding scoring strikes for the Indians .
Michael Cornell and Connor Jones tallied for Hoosick Falls in the match.
