Waterford Captures Tip-Off Tourney

Waterford ran out to a 24-1 advantage at the quarter break, in rolling to a 77-31 “W” over Salem to capture the Waterford Tip-Off Tournament championship on Saturday.

The Fordians put four players in double figures led by Gavin Bodah’s 21 points effort, with Howard Phelan adding 12 points, Derek Pontore 11, and Lucas Cassin 10 points to round out the quartet.

On Friday night in first round action Waterford posted a comfortable 74-41 victory over Ft. Edward, on a night where the Fordians again showed balanced scoring with four players hitting doubles.

Bodah led the scoring parade with 18 points followed by Phelan with 15, Pontore 11, with Cassin netting 10 points in the win.

The three-ball was good to Waterford over the weekend with the Fordians connecting on eight triples in each contest.

Waterford’s Gavin Bodah earned tournament MVP honors.
