Girls’ Basketball: Greenwich Stays Perfect: Niesz Reaches Scoring Milestone

Greenwich 74    Cambridge 30

Leading Scorers:  Witches – Norah Niesz 29 5 3’s           Brooke Kuzmich 12          Cambridge – Schuylar Nolan 10

Key Stat:  Greenwich held an 8-3 advantage in made threes.

Take Away:  The Witches, (17-0), won every quarter, put nine players in the scoring column and remained undefeated on a night where senior point guard Niesz scored her 1000th career point.  Needing 25 points to reach the milestone Niesz wasted little time, reaching the mark late in the first half, leading the #5 Class C team in the state to the home “W”. 

 

Mechanicville 62   Berlin/New Lebanon 11

Leading Scorers:  Red Raiders – Lila Christensen 12           Sophia Tamasi 11           Mountaineers – Rebecca Madsen 4

Take Away:  The Raiders cruise to the one-sided home “W” and move to 13-3 on the year. 

 

Tamarac 51   Hoosick Falls 21

Leading Scorers:  Bengals – Myanna Faraj 14 3 3’s           Panthers – Mackenna Roberson 14    

Key Stat:  Tamarac held the Falls to single numbers in every period.

Take Away:  The Bengals use a strong defensive effort to secure the home victory and improve to 11-1 in league play.  

 

Emma Willard 46   Waterford 23

Leading Scorers:  Jesters – Audrey Shields 20       Alison Opoku 10         Fordians – Rachel McOmber 8

Key Stat:  The Jesters built a 26-13 lead by halftime.

Take Away:  Emma Willard held the Fordians to single numbers in all four quarters and doubled up Waterford in the road win. 

 

Hoosic Valley 48   Spa Catholic 20

Leading Scorers:  Valley – Megan Rice 14        Jaquelyn Carlo 9          Saints – Grace Schaefer 9 3 3’s

Key Stat:  The Valley took control with a 10-0 second frame. 

Take Away:  Hoosic Valley rides a lockdown defensive effort to the win in Schaghticoke.
