Girls

Tamarac 55  Emma Willard 45

Leading Scorers:  Bengals – Emily Erickson 31        Syrita Faraj 12            Emma Willard – Angelina Ferritto 17         Molly Zahnieuter 14

Key Stat:  Trailing by one at the half the Bengals outscored their guests 35-24 over the final two periods to post the win on Tamarac’s Big Red Day celebration.

 

Cambridge 67  Berne-Knox 41

Leading Scorers:  Indians – Lily Phillips 25      Sophie Phillips 13      Fiona Mooney 11     Knox- Taylor Meachum 15      Alexis Wright 13

Key Stat:  Another blueprint win for Cambridge where they started fast, (45-19 halftime lead), put multiple players in doubles, knocked down six threes and held their opponent to 41 points.  Following their method of operation produces the Indians 15th win in 16 outings.    Continue reading →

Key Stat:  The Bengal defense held the Falls to single numbers in each of the first three periods as they notch the win over the Panthers.

Two makeup games in the league on Monday saw the Greenwich girls and Mechanicville boys post victories.

Greenwich 64  Stillwater 55

Leading Scorers:  Witches – Kylie Masse 21       Molly Brophy 15        Tess Merrill 10     Warriors – Marley Mueller 16         Brooke Pickett 12            Molly Sheehan 12

Key Stat:  Greenwich outscored the Warriors 33-24 in the second half to pull away for the “W” in a game that was tied at the half.

 

Mechanicville 69  Greenwich 56

Leading Scorers:  Red Raiders – Josh Germaine 23        Luci D’Ambro 12        Devin Garland 10        Witches – Alex Curtis 13        Carson Mosher 10

Key Stat:  The Raiders hung 48 on the board in the first half and led by 25 at the break. They cruised to the home win on the strength of 11 made triples, with the junior guard Germaine drilling seven.

Zero Gravity Tourney; Panthers, Indians Fall

Hoosick Falls and Hoosic Valley played in the Zero Gravity Tournament at the Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls on Sunday and both Wasaren squads came away with defeats.

Lake George 55  Hoosick Falls 30

Leading Scorers:  Warriors – Chris Becker 20        Mason Flatley 13        Luke Pelcher 10   Falls – Tristan Williams 15

Key Stat:  Lake George held the Panthers to single digits in every frame while outscoring the Falls 30-14 in the second half, in posting their 44th straight victory over previously unbeaten Hoosick Falls.  Just four Hoosick Falls players scored in the contest as the Panthers fell for the first time in 13 outings this season.

 

St. Johnsville 46  Hoosic Valley 35

Leading Scorers:  St. Johnsville – Tyler Leon 20       Jack Brundage 11         Indians – Zach Ryan 14           Isaac Carlo 9

Key Stat:  St. Johnsville shutout the Valley in the first period taking a 13-0 lead and nursed that cushion the rest of the way to the “W”.

Cambridge Pulls Away From Red Raiders

Yesterday the Lady Indians of Cambridge visited the Red Raiders of Mechanicville for a Saturday matinee. Two of the premier squads from the Wasaren provided a great storyline, but similar to movies we’ve all seen, this one started fast, but it’s ending didn’t deliver.

Cambridge used a 25-7 advantage in the third period to break open a game that was close at the half, and post a 70-36 decision over  the Raiders. Continue reading →

Waterford Rolls, Warriors Fall

A pair of non-league runs on Wednesday night saw the boys from Waterford roll over Heatly, while the Stillwater girls fell to Ichabod Crane.

Waterford 80  Heatly 48

Leading Scorers:  Fordians – Bobby Valigorski 21/ 23 rebounds        Michael Talavera 19      TJ Kelley 18           Heatly – D. Boodrow 16        D. Moore 12

Key Stat:  The Fordians hung 53 points on the board in the first half, running out and away from Heatly, and with the “W”, running their season mark to 8-6.

 

Ichabod Crane 60  Stillwater 48

Leading Scorers:  Riders – Madison Graham 24        Madison Kowalski 11       Audrey Duso 10         Warriors – Marley Mueller 23         Brooke Pickett 10

Key Stat:  Stillwater held a 14-12 advantage after one, but the Riders won each of the last three quarters and slowly pulled away in notching the victory over the Warriors.

Wasaren Sportsnet Player of the Week

Congratulations to Mechanicville basketball player Josh Germaine on being named Wasaren Sportsnet Player of the Week.

On Friday night in a game against Greenwich, Mechanicville trailed 59-57 with :04 remaining when Josh buried a triple from the top giving the Red Raiders the one point victory over the Witches.

It was Germaine’s fourth three pointer on a night where the junior guard scored 15 points.

Congratulations to Josh, this week’s Wasaren Sportsnet Player of the Week.
