Around the fifth inning in Friday’s Class B softball sectional final between Ichabod Crane and Hoosic Valley, the fans behind the center field fence were trying to remember what extra inning started with a runner being placed at second base. The feeling was extra frames would be needed to decide the outcome, and that’s exactly how it played out. 
The remaining two Wasaren softball squads took the field on Tuesday in Section II semifinals contests and the league teams came away with a split. In Class C Greenwich’s season ended in a 7-2 loss to Maple Hill, while in the B’s Hoosic Valley bested top seeded Cohoes 4-2 advancing to the championship game on Friday. 
Yesterday was quarterfinal Friday in the Section II softball tournament, and four Wasaren teams were in action. Hoosic Valley and Green wich notched wins, while softball season ended in Cambridge and Mechanicville.
