Softball Sectionals

73_greenwichYesterday was quarterfinal Friday in the Section II softball tournament, and four Wasaren teams were in action.  Hoosic Valley and Green wich notched wins, while softball season ended in Cambridge and Mechanicville.

Greenwich 5  Corinth 1

Winning Pitcher: Rachel Hall

Leading Hitters: Witches – Courtney Fraher 2b, two-run 1b,   Gabby Wiss 1b, RBI,      Tomahawks – Cheyanne Mandigo 1b, RBI

Key Stat: Hall limited Corinth to just four singles, and a four run third frame paved the way to the Witches “W”.

 

Maple Hill 3  Cambridge 0

Winning Pitcher: Alysa Houghtaling  9 K’s

Leading Hitters: Hilltoppers – Kayley Fountain HR, 2 RBI’s,  Alysa Houghtaling 2-3, RBI,        Indians – Victoria Dupuis 1-2

Key Stat: In a game dominated by pitching with just seven total hits, a two run first by Maple Hill proved  to be the difference.
