Sectional Play; Cambridge Advances, Witches, Panthers Fall

The Hoosick Falls boys and the Greenwich girls both ran into the juggernaut known as Meekel Christian Academy, and the Wasaren squads both fell hard ending their season’s in sectional quarterfinal action.

The Cambridge girls used a big fourth period to get past Berne-Knox, advancing to the Class C semifinals on Tuesday.  Here’s a closer look.

Leading Scorers: Indians – Lillian Snyder 12    Olivia Mooney 12    Helen Mooney 10    Patriots – Monique Britton 15   Shayla Lyons 13

Key Stat: Cambridge trailed 30-28 after three quarters of play, but outscored the Patriots 17-3 in the final frame to post the victory.

Next Up: Cambridge meets Meekel Christian Academy on Tuesday at Cohoes.

Leading Scorers: Lions – Jessie Snow 24   Rebekkah Dean 20   Elizabeth Singleton 10    Witches – Olivia Barnes 10

Key Stat: Meekel led 20-6 at the half and used a 27-13 third period to put this one away.  The Lions attack was fueled by 11 made threes on the night.

Leading Scorers: Lions – Deonte Holder 24    Scott Voelker 20    Carter Stewart 15    Oscar Itje 10     Panthers – Alex Mendez 16

Key Stat: The Lions jumped out to a 27-4 lead after the first eight minutes, and buried 16 triples in the contest on their way to the comfortable victory over the Falls.
