Greenwich, Granville Post Wins

baseball_002With Wasaren play suspended for vacation week, most of the league squads schedule a game or two of non league competition over the break.  Here’s a look at the non league contests from Wednesday.

Greenwich 11  Corinth 8

Winning Pitcher: Carson Mosher

Leading Hitters: Witches – Lukas Whitehouse 3-3,  Bailey Winch 1-2, 2b, 3 RBI’s        Tomahawks – Kraig Irish 2-4, 2 RBI’s

Key Stat: Greenwich, after giving up a six-spot in the top of the first, came roaring back behind a 15 hit barrage to claim the win in the first round of the Greenwich Tournament.


Greenwich 5  Whitehall 4

Winning Pitcher: Bailey Winch – two innings of hitless relief

Leading Hitters: Witches – Cole Burgess game-winning RBI in the bottom of the seventh,  Carson McKinley 3-4, RBI,  Brendan Stout 3-4     Tomahawks – Danny St.Claire 2-2, RBI

Key Stat: The Witches plated two in the bottom of the seventh, Burgess delivering the game winner with a clutch two-out single giving Greenwich the championship in their own tourney.


Granville 12  Galway 1

Winning Pitcher: Austin Buxton

Leading Hitters: Horde – Trace Bourn 4-5, 2 2b’s, 4 RBI’s,  Austin Buxton 2-5, 2b,  Bailey Daigle 2-4, 2b      Galway – Shane Brownell 2-4

Key Stat: Granville scored 11 runs over the final three frames to post the “W”.


Saratoga Catholic 3  Hoosic Valley 0

Winning Pitcher: Terel Tillman  four-hit shutout

Leading Hitters: Saints – Zac Cronk 2-3, RBI,  Connor Farrington 1-3, RBI      Valley – Alex Carlo 2-3, RBI

Key Stat: The freshman Tillman needed just 74 pitches in throwing his gem.



Stillwater 16  Corinth 9

Winning Pitcher: Kylie Welcome

Leading Hitters: Warriors – Taylor Lescault 5-5, 2b, 5 RBI’s, Danika Svendsen 5-5 2 RBI’s, Kaitlyn Welcome 2-3, 2b     Tomahawks – Morgan Baker 2-3, 2b

Key Stat: Stillwater scored 10 times in the fifth and coasted to the victory.
