Wasaren Sportsnet Players of the Week

It’s time to recognize our first two spring athletes for the Wasaren Sportsnet Player of the Week Award and they are Hoosic Valley’s Camille Coyne, and Greenwich’s Lukas Whitehouse.

Coyne had an incredible week from the circle for the Indians starting with last Saturday’s 16 K, 3-hit shutout  in a 5-0 win over Hoosick Falls  On Monday Coyne and the Valley handed Cambridge their first league defeat, with Camille fanning 10 in the 6-1 victory.

Tuesday it was a 9-0 shutout of Lake George with the junior pitcher allowing just one hit, while retiring 18 Warriors on strikes.  Capping off the week on Wednesday Coyne won both ends of the Valley’s doubleheader sweep over Stillwater giving Camille an incredible five wins in as many days.

Whitehouse got his week started by throwing  a three hit shutout with 10 K’s last weekend in the Witches 9-0 win over Hoosick Falls.  On Monday in Greenwich’s 8-0 win over Granville, Whitehouse was 2-3 from the plate with an RBI.

On Wednesday Lukas was back to the mound where he fanned 10 Bengals in a 7-0 shutout of Tamarac, and Whitehouse finished the week on Thursday with a 2-4 day at the plate including the game-tying RBI in a 4-3 win over Tamarac.

Quite the week on the diamonds for both athletes. Congratulations to both Camille and Lukas, this week’s Wasaren Sportsnet Players of the Week.
