Saints Win Opener, Falls Stays Perfect in Golf


Girls soccer and golf played out for a handful of league schools as the fall season continues to gain traction with boys soccer, field hockey and football getting underway over the next couple of days.

Girls Soccer  Saratoga Catholic 8    Duanesburg 2:  The Saints found the back of the net four times in each half as they rolled over Duanesburg in the season-opener for both teams.

Kristen Maher led the attack for Spa Catholic with four tallies, while teammates Lauren Maher, Elizabeth Dedell, Melanie Maltbie, and Megan Schmid all added goals for the Saints.

Emily McLaughlin scored a pair of goals, one in each half, to pace the Duanesburg offense.



Hoosick Falls 5   Waterford 0: Ryan Bloomer posted the low score of the day, shooting a 35 to led the Falls over Waterford in a match played at the Hoosick Falls Country Club.

Matthew Smith, Connor Smith, Hayden Smith, and Gavin Playotes completed the Hoosick Falls sweep with wins in flights 2-5.  With the victory the Falls run’s it’s record to 6-0 on the year.


Tamarac 5   Hoosic Valley 0: In action at Frear Park Bobby Simmons fired a 42 as Tamarac shutout the Indians from Schaghticoke.

Will Ashley, Connor Wright, Zach Buckley, and Brendan Gardner joined Simmons in the win column for the Bengals.
