The Red Raiders of Mechanicville took step one Tuesday night in securing the Wasaren title in girls soccer with their 3-2 victory over Stillwater, but there’s more work to do this afternoon.
There’s a handful of scenarios that could result in the Raiders and the Warriors sharing the title, with both squads also having a chance to win it out right.
Thursday afternoon Mechanicville travels to Hoosick Falls and Stillwater hosts Hoosic Valley for their regular season’s finale and our friend Stefano Gazzelli sent me information regarding how a win, loss or tie by either team determines the league champ.
Here goes. A Mechanicville win or a Stillwater loss and Mechanicville will be champions. Stillwater would wear the crown with a win and a Mechanicville loss. They would be c0-champs if Mechanicville lost and Stillwater tied, or if Mechanicville tied and Stillwater won.
The Raiders take on a good Hoosick Falls team who sits in third place with an 8-3-1 record, while Stillwater contends with Hoosic Valley who’s had a difficult season but defeated Waterford 9-0 in their last outing.
Anything can and usually does happen in high school athletics, and no matter the combination of wins, losses, or ties this afternoon thanks to Stefano we’ll know who to call Champs.
