Friday Night Football, Raiders, Warriors Roll

In the final weekend of the high school football regular season five of the seven Wasaren football teams were in action Friday night.  Mechanicville, Stillwater and Hoosick Falls all posted “W’s”, while Greenwich and Tamarac suffered defeats.

 

Mechanicville 38  Taconic Hills 6:  Marc DeBates scored first quarter touchdowns on runs of 42 and 65 yards paving the way for the Raiders comfortable victory.

Bobby Lemrow connected with Keegan McHale on an 8-yard scoring strike in the second period, and Dan Hayner and Evan Chapman ran for third quarter scores as the Raiders, in control all night, improve to 5-2 and await their seeding in next weekend’s Section II tournament.

 

Stillwater 49   Granville 14:  Dan Morris ran for over 200 yards and scored four touchdowns to lead the Warriors past the Golden Horde of Granville.

In a contest that was tied 14-14 in the second period, Stillwater scored twice before the break taking a 28-14 lead into halftime on their way to win number six against one defeat.  The Warriors now prepare for sectional play with potentially a first round game at home.

 

Hoosick Falls 30  Corinth 14:  Panther quarterback Aaron Tomczak completed 12 of 25 passes for 220 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Falls over the Tomahawks.

Tomczak found Tristan Hunt three times for scores including a 29-yard strike on the last play of the first half giving the Panthers a 24-6 cushion at the break.

 

Watervliet 40  Tamarac 0:  The Cannoneers scored 20 first quarter points, taking control early in the shutout victory over Bengals.

Ravion Burt with 157 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns led the Watervliet attack.

Tamarac receiver Brad Schneider caught 10 balls for 105 yards in the contest for the Bengals who finish the regular season with a mark of 3-4.

 

Schuylerville 34  Greenwich 6:  Quarterback Stratton Sherman threw two touchdowns, and ran for another to lead the Black Horses past the Witches.

Schuylerville rushed for over 300 yards on the night, and recovered four Greenwich fumbles in running their record to 5-2 with the win.

Greenwich (5-2) scored in the second period when Witches quarterback Josh James found Jack Pemrick on a 17-yard throw and catch.
