Greenwich 2 Cairo Durham 1 OT: The Witches, who trailed 1-0 at halftime, tied things in the second half and notched the win in overtime in their Class C play-in game in Greenwich on Wednesday.
Luke Jordan scored on a penalty kick in the second half, and John Swertner finished a Charlie Gaertner cross for the game winner for Greenwich who play tonight at 7 p.m. taking on No. 2 Mayfield in an opening round game.
Tamarac 2 Cohoes 1: The Bengals used second half goals from Chase Ali and Miles Ednie to squeeze past the Tigers in round one of the Class B tournament.
Tyler Petersen saved 7 shots for the Bengals who advance to round two where they’ll meet Broadalbin Perth in a Friday match, Perth advancing with a 9-0 win over Catholic Central.
Schalmont 6 Hoosick Falls 0: Five players scored for Schalmont with Dan DiCocco’s two goal day leading the way as the Sabres shutout the Falls and advance to round two in Class B.
Hoosick Falls 3 Granville 0: The Panthers scored three times in the first half, two coming from Liz Ryan as the Falls advance with the win over the Golden Horde.
Megan Henry added a goal for the Panthers who improve to 17-0 on the season with the victory.
Greenwich 2 Taconic Hills 1: Isabel Kuzmich and Julie Kuzmich scored first half goals and that proved to be just enough for the Witches to advance to round two in the Class C field hockey tournament.
Taconic Hills’ Erin Hallenback found the range with a second half score but the Witches defense held the rest of the way as Greenwich secured the “W” and improved to 13-6 on the season.
