In a back and forth game throughout Allegany-Limestone’s Alyssa Spring scored the deciding goal on a penalty kick with 12:33 left in the match, leading A-L to the Class C state soccer championship in Homer Sunday afternoon.
Stillwater jumped on top in this title match, when Kaelyn Peacock scored on a direct kick with 26:03 left in the first half giving the Warriors the 1-0 edge.
Spring answered with 7:34 remaining in the half, scoring off a rebound for her first of three goals on the afternoon, knotting the game at 1-1.
Fifteen minutes into the second half Spring tallied on a penalty kick to give Allegany-Limestone their first lead in the match at 2-1.
But the Warriors quickly drew even when Teya Staie found the range just 70 seconds later, and with 28:30 left the teams were deadlocked at 2-2 setting Spring’s game-winner, her second connection on a penalty kick in the contest.
For the young and talented Stillwater squad they complete a special soccer season with Section II and Regional titles, a 20-3 overall mark and a nearly full roster of returning players for 2018.
