With the league schedule set to begin this week, two Wasaren teams tipped on Friday in non-league affairs with the Waterford girls posting a “W” while the Greenwich boys fell in overtime.
Waterford 40 Corinth 17: The Fordians held Corinth scoreless over the middle two periods on their way to posting the easy victory over the Tomahawks.
Annelise Rebel netted 12 points and Emily Kelley added 10 for Waterford who improve to 2-0 on the young season with the win.
Hadley Luzerne 66 Greenwich 62 OT: Hadley Luzerne used the fourth period to catch the Witches, and the overtime session to put them away on Friday night in Greenwich.
The game, which was deadlocked at the half, saw Greenwich take a 47-38 lead into the final quarter setting up the come from behind win for the visitors from Luzerne.
Connor Backus dropped a game-high 32 points for Hadley Luzerne and teammates Danny McMahon and Nick Walker chipped in with 14 and 10 points respectively.
Carson Mosher scored 25 points for Greenwich with John Walsh adding 17 points and Joe Smith 13 points for the Witches.
