Crossover Friday

Wasaren teams squared off with each other one last time Friday night in crossover games under the league’s new format.  Teams from the Battenkill division faced teams from the Hudson in a final run before sectional play.

Sunday at Skidmore College the championship for the girls and boys will be decided with Cambridge facing Tamarac at 6:30 in the girls game, and Hoosick Falls taking on Saratoga Catholic at 8:00 in the boys tip.

Girls

Mechanicville 56  Hoosic Valley 37

Leading Scorers:  Red Raiders – Charli Goverski 20        Jada Brown 13     Sammy Pasinella 10       Indians – Renee Serafin 19

Key Points:  The Valley led 20-9 after the first period, but the Raiders outscored their hosts 38-12 over the next two quarters, and notched the convincing victory.  The Raiders again showed their long ball prowess knocking down 6 of 12 from three point range while defensively Mechanicville forced 27 Indian turnovers on the night.

 

Greenwich 64  Waterford 32

Leading Scorers:  Witches – Molly Brophy 19     Gabbie Wiss 16     Devin Drew 13      Fordians – Emily Kelley 10

Key Points:  The Witches won every quarter, led 40-14 at halftime and posted the easy win, doubling up the Fordians from Waterford.

 

Hoosick Falls 68  Saratoga Catholic 48

Leading Scorers:  Falls – Logan Thayne 23      Eliza Whitman 14       Saints – Ani Crocker 16

Key Points:  The Panthers took control with a 23-6 second period and rolled to the one-sided decision.

 

Boys

Greenwich 57  Cambridge 40

Leading Scorers:  Witches – John Walsh 17     Ellis Pemrick 13     Josh James 12      Indians – Tommy English 16

Key Points:  Trailing 14-12 after the first eight minutes, Greenwich outscored the Indians 32-14 over the next two periods, on their way to earning the home “W”.

 

Stillwater 61  Hoosic Valley 30

Leading Scorers:  Warriors – Brian McNeil 17     Scott Travis 16     Cooper Monast 12      Valley – Brandon Napoli 13     C.J. Bassett 12

Key Points:  The Warriors put three players in doubles, won every quarter, and cruised to the win over the Valley.

 

Mechanicville 56  Waterford 52

Leading Scorers:  Red Raiders – Luciano D’Ambro 13      Fordians – Bobby Valigorski 21     Michael Talavera 14

Key Points:  In the only close game of the night Mechanicville led 39-35 entering the final frame and held off the Fordians to earn the “W”.  Luciano’s 13 points led nine Raiders who scored in the contest.
