The Tamarac girls and Hoosick Falls boys were crowned Wasaren champions Sunday night at Skidmore College, winners in the inaugural Wasaren League championships.
Under the new format, first place teams from the Hudson and Battenkill divisions squared off to determine a league champion and at night’s end Tamarac claimed a 61-51 decision over Cambridge, while Hoosick Falls bested Saratoga Catholic 80-41.

Key Points: In a game of runs throughout Tamarac, trailing 42-37 late in the third, used a 15-0 spurt to take a 52-42 lead in the final period, and held off the previously unbeaten Indians to claim the crown.
Cambridge started the game with a 14-3 run and finished the first leading 27-10. But Tamarac responded with a 15-3 second quarter trimming the Indians advantage to 30-25 at the break.
The Indians led 42-39 after three, before the final Tamarac run decided things.
Both squads will be high seeds in the upcoming Section II Sectional Tournament with Class C Cambridge finishing the regular season with a 19-1 mark, while Class B Tamarac completes it’s regular season at 18-2.

Key Points: With the Saints missing three starters due to illness or injury the Panthers met little resistance running out to a 21-7 first quarter lead and extending the spread to 47-17 at halftime, in cruising to the championship.
Both squads finish with identical 16-4 regular season marks and will look ahead to sectional play in the C classification.
